Following the conclusion of our Puma Photography Safari with Diego Araya, you can choose to stay for a further four nights in Chile to coincide with the 2020 solar eclipse. This is your chance to photograph the spectacular celestial phenomenon in a stunning natural landscape. Alternatively, this 4-day trip can also be booked separately from the 9-day puma safari.

In December 2020, photographer Diego Araya will be leading our Puma Photography Safari in search of Patagonia's apex predator. This trip includes six nights at Eco Camp Patagonia, the world's first geodesic dome hotel, in the wilds of Torres del Paine National Park. Guests on this safari will be able to join Diego and a team of expert wildlife trackers as they search for pumas, guanacos, rheas, Andean foxes, Andean condors and many more species, in one of the most visually stunning wildernesses anywhere in the Americas.

After bidding farewell to Diego, guests can choose to extend their travels with a 4-day extension to coincide with the December 2020 solar eclipse, when the moon will pass in front of the sun, plunging the day into darkness. Based in the Araucanía Region of Chile, you'll be perfectly placed to witness this mind-blowing event, allowing you to capture some spectacular photos. You can choose to add on this extension to Diego's Puma Photography Safari or enjoy the 4-day solar eclipse trip on its own.

  1. DAY 1 DEC 12: SANTIAGO – TEMUCO – GLAMPING CAMP

    This morning, guests on our Puma Photography Safari with Diego Araya will meet at the reception of their hotel, where they will take a group transfer to Santiago Airport in time for their flight to Temuco. Those who have booked the 4-day solar eclipse trip separately will meet their fellow travellers at Temuco Airport. Once everyone has arrived at the airport, our local representative will greet you and transfer you to the Glamping Camp. Following your arrival, spend the afternoon relaxing and checking out your campsite for the next four days, before finishing your day off with a relaxing evening at the Huife Hot Springs.

  2. DAY 2 DEC 13: VILLARICA REGION

    With a free day ahead of you, why not join in on one of the excursions available at the Glamping Camp. You can choose from a hike in Huerquehue National Park, climbing the active Villarrica Volcano which stands 9,380 ft high; opt for white water rafting on the Trancura River followed by a visit to the beautiful waterfalls of Ojos Del Caburgua; or for something more relaxed, visit the town of Coñaripe and then on to the thermal baths of Termas Geometricas for a dip. You may also decide to relax around camp and take in these pristine natural surroundings.

  3. DAY 3 DEC 14: SOLAR ECLIPSE

    After a relaxed morning, head off to the chosen viewing site nearby Villarrica & Pucón where you will experience the magnificent total eclipse. The partial eclipse starts at 14:41, with the total eclipse starting at 16:02, which should last for 2 minutes and 8 seconds. After the total eclipse, carry on enjoying the partial eclipse for almost another hour and a half. After today’s excitement, transfer back to camp for dinner where you will have the chance to sit, look over your photos and reflect on this unique experience.

    Enjoy your last breakfast in camp before transferring back to Temuco Airport for your onward flight home.

Medical Kit Required

Essential

  • It is mandatory to carry the original government-issued any valid ID cards for Indian nationals and original passports for foreign nationals.
  • Sunglasses, a hat, and sunscreen lotions.
  • T-shirt, shirt or blouse - long sleeves and collars help to protect from the sun and mosquitoes (Neutral or Non-bright colored)
  • Comfortable walking shoes (or boots) and socks.
  • Preventative pharmaceuticals.

Refund

Life is unpredictable and we understand that sometimes you have to cancel or change your trip dates and it is our endeavor to make it as easy as possible for you. However, please understand that we plan everything including guide fees, permits, accommodation and ration in advance. Therefore, any cancellation means inconvenience and certain losses to the people involved in various stages of the program. Keeping that in mind, our cancellation charges are as below,

 

  • Cancellations prior to 30 days from the start of the event: Full refund as cash.
  • Cancellations between 30 days and 15 days to the start of the event: 50 % refund as cash.
  • Cancellations less than 15 days to the start of the event: No refund.
  • Cancellations will be accepted only by email.

 

Note: We reserve the right to cancel a program before departure in the event of logistical problems arising due to natural calamities, strikes, wars or any other circumstances that make the event inadvisable. In this case, we will refund 50% of the event fees.
