Realm of the Polar Bear

Spend your days watching the world go by from the observation deck of the M/S Expedition, cutting through the ice in search of polar bears, whales and walruses. If you want to stretch your legs then take advantage of some of the Zodiac missions or shore-based excursions on offer; learning what the Arctic north feel like up close and personal.

This is a small group, set departure aboard the M/S Expedition with up to 126 passengers. The M/S Expedition features stabilisers and due to its size, can often navigate further north than some of the larger ships. Each departure is led by seasoned professionals who, along with the crew will ensure you are in the best locations for optimum wildlife experiences.

    Today you will arrive in Longyearbyen where you will be met and embark the M/S Expedition - your home for the next 7 or 10 nights.

    Spitsbergen Archipelago

    During your Arctic journey you will visit various sites around the Spitsbergen Archipelago by expedition ship, Zodiac and on foot. The exact itinerary is subject to change owing to local ice, wildlife and weather conditions. Each day will be planned to take advantage of the climate and locations of the wildlife. Svalbard is one of the few places on the planet that offers such a wealth of natural and cultural diversity. Whilst here you will visit ice-covered seas, breath-taking fjords and glaciers flowing into the sea. A bird lover's paradise, the Spitsbergen Archipelago offers fantastic opportunities to see ivory gulls, kittiwakes, little auks and, weather permitting, thousands of guillemots on the immense bird cliffs. Arctic fauna is also on the agenda as you look out for polar bears hunting seals, walrus hauled out on ice floes, Svalbard’s unique subspecies of reindeer and much more. In addition to wildlife you will visit historic sites of war, whaling, trapping and coal mining. The evening of the last full day of adventure will find the expedition ship anchored off Longyearbyen.

Refund

Life is unpredictable and we understand that sometimes you have to cancel or change your trip dates and it is our endeavor to make it as easy as possible for you. However, please understand that we plan everything including guide fees, permits, accommodation, and ration in advance. Therefore, any cancellation means inconvenience and certain losses to the people involved in various stages of the program. Keeping that in mind, our cancellation charges are as below,

  • Cancellations prior to 30 days from the start of the event: Full refund as cash.
  • Cancellations between 30 days and 15 days to the start of the event: 50 % refund as cash.
  • Cancellations less than 15 days to the start of the event: No refund.
  • Cancellations will be accepted only by email.

Note: We reserve the right to cancel a program before departure in the event of logistical problems arising due to natural calamities, strikes, wars or any other circumstances that make the event inadvisable. In this case, we will refund 50% of the event fees.
