There are plenty of new travel destinations in Meghalaya circulating the web, even though the dust has settled a bit on looks forward. As we field questions about our own favorite destinations, most memorable experiences and where we recommend people to travel this year, we thought we’d add a twist to the traditional travel lists and share some places that might not be on your travel radar but should be. So, here’s an itinerary that includes some of the offbeat locations in Meghalaya.

Day 1 -Reach Guwahati, Drive to Mawphanlur

Our driver cum guide will receive you from the Guwahati Airport. From the Airport we will leave for Mawhpanlur. It is located 3 hours from Shillong and serves as the perfect weekend getaway for the city dwellers. It is surrounded by 7 lakes with lush green tiny mountains. Engage yourself in easy-go activities such as rowing a boat, climbing mountains, flying a kite, scream chat at people on another hill. You will relax in this tiny village which can serve a dream destination for photographers. Your stay will be in Traveller’s Nest, Mawphanlur.
Day 2- Morning drive to Nongrum Island, Camp in the David Scott’s Trail

Today we will go for a morning visit to the Nongrum, the second largest river island in Asia. We will then drive to Mawphalang which is the starting point of the David Scott’s trail. We will trek which is one of the most popular trekking routes in Meghalaya. The route spread in over 100 km and takes around 5 days to get covered, on-foot. This trail route is separated into smaller trekking routes and the trail between Mawphlang and Lad Mawphlang is the most famous one. The whole trek is blessed with mesmerizing natural wonders such as cascading waterfalls, crystal clear streams, typical Khasi villages, scenic valleys, and sacred forests. We will camp in the stunning lush rugged Umiam valley.
Day 3 -CHERRAPUNJEE SIGHTSEEING, HOMESTAY IN CHERRAPUNJEE

Next morning, after breakfast we will continue our trek to Lad Mawphlang. Will will then Drive to Cherrapunjee which is half an hour ride. We will spend the day in Cherrapunjee experiencing various caves and waterfalls in and around the town. The various places that will be covered are Mawsmai Caves, Dainthlen Fall, Nohkalikai Fall, Seven Sister Falls and Eco Park. We will stay at a homestay in Cherrapunjee. 
Day 4- DOUBLE DECKER ROOT BRIDGE TREK, CAMPING IN NONGRIAT

After breakfast, we will visit a few more places in Cherrapunjee and then leave for Tryna Village which is the starting point for the Nongriat Village Trek(Double Decker Root Bridge Trek). The trek is about 2hrs. We will have our lunch in the Nongriat Village. After lunch, we will visit the famous double Decker root bridge. If we still seek for some more adventure we will again go for a short afternoon trek to the Rainbow Fall. We will camp in the village for the night. 
Day 5- Nongriat Village Tour

Today will be a leisure day in Nongriat where we sit down and relax. If we are not done with the Rainbow falls, we will visit the falls. The evening is left for a village walk.
Day 6- DRIVE TO WAKHEN, CAMPING IN WAHKHEN

After Breakfast, we will trek back to Tryna Village from where we will leave for Wahkhen. Wahkhen is a beautiful unexplored village in Meghalaya. Upon reaching we will set our tents. After setting our tents we will explore the Wahkhen village meeting some wonderful souls. Campsite awaits you with some warm campfire and volunteered jamming session. Stay overnight.  
Day 7 -TREK TO MAWRYNGKHANG, Drive to Shnongpdeng

Next morning, after breakfast we will start our trek to Mawryngkhang. A bamboo trail for the major part of the trek on the ridges of the mountain, followed along by the cleanest river in the region ‘Umrew River’. The 3 hour trek passes through some fascinating waterfalls and finally ending at a big rock connected by bamboo bridge – Mawryngkhang. After this we will trek back to our campsite followed by lunch. After the lunch we will be driving Shnongpdeng. Stay in a riverside cottage in Shnongpdeng.  
Day 8- Drive to Shnongpdeng, Boat Ride and adventure activities

After breakfast, we will leave visit the Indo-Bangla Border. After coming back we will go for a boat ride in Umngot River. The river is famous for its crystal clear waters. After we are done exploring Dawki, we will drive towards Shnongpdeng. We will be talso for some Adventure Activities which includes Kayaking, Snorkeling and Cliff Jumping. The Village is one of the famous attractions for tourists in Meghalaya. Your stay will be in the same river side cottage in Shnonpdeng.
Day 9 -DRIVE TO GUWAHATI

After breakfast, we drive back to Guwahati/ Shillong. On our way back, we stop in a few places for some sightseeing in and around Meghalaya.

Life is unpredictable and we understand that sometimes you have to cancel or change your trip dates and it is our endeavor to make it as easy as possible for you. However, please understand that we plan everything including guide fees, permits, accommodation, and ration in advance. Therefore, any cancellation means inconvenience and certain losses to the people involved in various stages of the program. Keeping that in mind, our cancellation charges are as below,

Cancellations prior to 30 days from the start of the event: Full refund as cash.
Cancellations between 30 days and 15 days to the start of the event: 50 % refund as cash.
Cancellations less than 15 days to the start of the event: No refund.
Cancellations will be accepted only by email.

Note: We reserve the right to cancel a program before departure in the event of logistical problems arising due to natural calamities, strikes, wars or any other circumstances that make the event inadvisable. In this case, we will refund 50% of the event fees.
