Adventure as the name suggest, is the activity that involves Risk, Fitness and Strength. When you summit a mountain or climb a rock or Rappel down the cliffs, there is a sense of accomplishment that runs across your mind, and trust me “That is the best feeling you will have”. Outdoor Adventure lets you to understand your inner self, and transforms you to the Go-Getter attitude. People doing frequent adventure trips develop an attitude of challenging themselves to improve each and every time, and this attitude helps not only in the Outdoors but also in the Day to Day activities.

These are the questions that comes up in the mind of every Adventure freak. How about if all these adventure activities are packed in a week with additional flavour of Mountaineering.

Mountaineering can be termed as an Art and not just any Physical activity which requires only strength. It requires the right attitude to advance your fears and challenge your mind.

Some Highlights of the Adventure Week are:

  • Session on Knots: Knots are the lifeline of every Mountaineer. You will learn the various types of knots and their usage in climbing.

  • Sports Climbing: The art of climbing a wall which resembles an artificial Rock

  • Rock Climbing: The art of climbing the different Rock faces with professional techniques

  • Rappelling: The art of quickly descending from the different Rock faces.

  • Jumaring: The art of climbing a rock face using Ropes and ascenders.

  • Climbing Methods: The various climbing methods like Sequence Climbing, Lead Climbing.

  • Paragliding: The basic methods of Paragliding, and a glide over the famous Tiger Hill in Darjeeling.

  • River Rafting: The rules and concepts of river rafting, and an adventurous rafting on the rapids of river Teesta.

  • River Crossing: The art of making an artificial bridge using ropes and carabiners to cross a river

  1. Day 1: Pick Up from Siliguri and Drive to Darjeeling

    Today is the day for reporting at Darjeeling Hotel. Check-In to the hotel and relax for the evening. Before the dinner, there will be a group orientation session followed by the briefing for the upcoming Adventure filled Week. Our Instructors will brief you about various programs that will be covered in the week along with the importance of Adventure in our life

  2. Day 2: Session on Knots & Rock Climbing Techniques + Demo and Practice

    This is the day when the Adventure starts. After the breakfast the group will head towards the famous “Tenzing Rock” for the Rock Climbing training and practice. This rock is named after Sherpa Tenzing Norgay (The first person to summit Mt. Everest). Tenzing Rock is also used by the prestigious Himalayan Mountaineering Institute to teach Rock Climbing to their students.

    Session on Knots & Climbing Equipments: Knots are the lifeline of every Mountaineer, and one must learn the basic knots before gearing up to climb any rock. This session will be taken by a senior instructor from HMI Darjeeling. Various Knots will be explained to the group members and there will be a Hands On session to tie various Knots. A brief session will be conducted on using various equipments required for climbing like Harness, Carabiners, Sling Ropes, Belay using descender.

    Rock Climbing Practice: There are multiple ways and methods to climb a Rock face. Our senior instructors will take a brief session on different terms and Techniques/Methods used for Rock Climbing. Post the demo by the instructor, the remaining day will be used to practice the rock climbing on different faces of Tenzing Rock

  3. Day 3: Demo and Practice on Artificial Wall climbing + Visit Himalayan Mountaineering Institute + Jumaring Demo and Practice

    Sports Climbing: This day will be utilized for practicing sports climbing on the Artificial Wall. Our instructors will explain the various techniques of climbing the artificial wall along with a Demo. The climbing will be practiced on 2 Walls with different climbing techniques and grade of climbing.

    Walking tour of Himalayan Mountaineering Institute: After the whole group has practiced the climbing on the artificial wall, the remaining time will be utilized to take a walking tour of the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. You will get a chance to visit the Mountaineering museum of HMI where the various climbing equipments used by Sherpa Tenzing Norgay are kept. You will also get the chance of understanding the complete Himalayan Ranges in the museum.

    Practice on Jumaring: After the lunch, we will again Head for the Tenzing Rock to practice Jumaring. Jumaring is the technique to climb the Rock Face using Ropes, Carabiners and Jumars. Our Instructors will give a session on Jumaring and various safety anchoring techniques used in Jumaring. The group will practice Jumar climbing on the different faces of the Tenzing Rock.

    We will call off the adventurous day after the practice is completed by the group

  4. Day 4: Lecture & Demo of Rappelling on both faces of Tenzing Rock + Rock Climbing, 2nd Half visit to Happy Valley Tea Garden Factory & Outing

    Rappelling: After the Breakfast, we will start the day for some more adventure. The group will head for Tenzing Rock for practicing Rappelling. Rappelling is the most fun filled adventure activity which involves descending from a Rock using Ropes, Carabiners and Descenders. Our instructors will explain the significance of Rappelling in mountaineering with a session and demo to use various equipments. The group will practice Rappelling in both the faces of Tenzing Rock (Short Face and Long Face).

    The group will also practice the Rock Climbing techniques which were taught earlier. All the faces of the rock will be available to the group for practicing Rappelling and Rock Climbing.

    Leisure in the Evening: After the lunch the day is at leisure. We will do a short visit to Happy Valley Tea Garden and the Factory. Post that the evening is free to explore the beautiful town of Darjeeling.

  5. Day 5: Trek to Tumling, Nepal

    This day we will cross the border and enter Nepal. The day will start with early breakfast and a short drive of 2 hours from Darjeeling to Dhotrey (8,500 ft). Dhotrey is a small village which falls in the buffer zone of Singalila National Park and it is the starting point of our trek to Tumling (9,600 ft). The trek will be of 2 hrs and it is an easy to moderate gradient trek which involves gradual ascent and level walks throughout. Tumling is a small hamlet in the eastern himalayas and comes under IIam District of Nepal. There are only 10-15 families living in this serene village. One gets a perfect view of Sikkim Himalayas, Nepal HImalayas and Bhutan Himalayas from Tumling. We will reach Tumling by the evening and retire in the Hotel. The evening will be with Bonfire and Music followed by the dinner

  6. Day 6: Rafting in Teesta & Session and Practice of River Crossing by Zip Line

    Sunrise is best viewed from the Mountain Tops of Eastern Himalayas. Early morning after the tea, we will start our trek to the best view point for sunrise and to get a glimpse of Sikkim Himalayas, Bhutan Himalayas and Nepal Himalayas. This will be a short trek of 1 KM. After witnessing the majestic sunrise the group will trek back to the hotel for breakfast. After breakfast, we will head towards Teesta river for some adventure of white water rafting. There will be a small trek to Manebhanjan and then a short drive of 2 hrs to reach Teesta.

    On the banks of Teesta river, a session will be conducted on river crossing by zip line method. Our instructors will explain the zip line method and teach how to prepare a bridge over the river using ropes and carabiners. After the Demo, the practice will be done on river crossing.

    After the lunch, the time comes for some adventure of Rafting on the rapids of Teesta river. In Teesta, there are rapids of varying intensity of flow, most part of Teesta where rafting is done has been graded in a scale of 2 to 4.

    After the adventurous day on Mountain as well as on river, we will head back to Darjeeling by vehicle. The night will be in Darjeeling hotel followed by dinner

  7. Day 7: Revision of all techniques at Tenzing Rock. Evening Free to visit Darjeeling

    This Day is for revisions of all the Mountaineering Techniques that you have learned in the past week. After breakfast, the group will head for Tenzing Rock and practice all techniques on Rock Climbing, Rappelling, Jumaring and various Anchors and safety Knots.

    Post lunch the day is at leisure and one can go to the Darjeeling city to explore the local culture and try some authentic local and Nepali cuisine.

  8. Day 8: Trek to Tiger Hill & Paragliding

    After the early breakfast, we will trek to the famous Tiger Hill. The Highest point of Darjeeling from where one gets the perfect views of Mount Everest & Mount Makalu. This is the only place from where you can see the world’s highest mountain as well as the plains of Siliguri.

    After witnessing the majestic views of himalayas, the group will trek down to Jalapahar for some adrenaline rushing adventure in the Air. Instead of following the same trail to trek down, we will do the Paragliding from Jalapahar to Lebong Stadium.

    The evening will be reserved for the Adventure Week ending party with music and guitar on the house.

  9. Day 9: Departure from Darjeeling

    The day comes to bid adieu. After a week long sprint of Adventure on Land, Water and Air, we will depart from Darjeeling to our respective hometowns.

Life is unpredictable and we understand that sometimes you have to cancel or change your trip dates and it is our endeavor to make it as easy as possible for you. However, please understand that we plan everything including guide fees, permits, accommodation and ration in advance. Therefore, any cancellation means inconvenience and certain losses to the people involved in various stages of the program. Keeping that in mind, our cancellation charges are as below,

  • Cancellations prior to 30 days from the start of the event: Full refund as cash.
  • Cancellations between 30 days and 15 days to the start of the event: 50 % refund as cash.
  • Cancellations less than 15 days to the start of the event: No refund.
  • Cancellations will be accepted only by email.

Note: We reserve the right to cancel a program before departure in the event of logistical problems arising due to natural calamities, strikes, wars or any other circumstances that make the event inadvisable. In this case, we will refund 50% of the event fees.
