Erg Chigaga is the largest and still untouched Saharan ergs of the Sahara in Morocco, the other is the Erg Chebbi near Merzouga.

Overview

This Erg made of beautiful dunes is located in the Drâa-Tafilalet area about 60 km west of the rural town of M'Hamid El Ghizlane, itself located about 98 km south of the town of Zagora. Merzouga is a small Moroccan town in the Sahara Desert, near the Algerian border. It’s known as a gateway to Erg Chebbi, a huge expanse of sand dunes north of town. West of Merzouga, Dayet Srji is a seasonal salt lake that’s often dry in summer. DEPARTURE / ARRIVAL : Hotel pick up at 8 a.m.. We arrive back on last day around 7 p.m. and we drop you off at your hotel or any place you require.

Itinerary

DAY 1 :

The day starts with a transfer from Marrakech to Morocco Sahara Desert. It’s a long drive across the south east of the country, passing over the atlas Tizi-n-Tichka mountain(2260m). We’ll have a pause for lunch in the city of Ouarzazate (African Hollywood city) and then we continue across the Draa Valley to Zagora city. Here, we’ll stop to stretch then continue on for a 9-hour drive towards your desert camp in Erg lihoudi.

DAY 2 :

You start your trek, after breakfast, to Ouednaam, trekking into a large plateau, then carry on to your campsite at Ouednaam & explore real sahara.

DAY 3 :

After breakfast in Ouednaam we head to Oued Laatach. You’ll trek through sand dunes and meet groups of camels near Tamaris trees & sahara plants. Your night will be spent in a bivouac after 5 hours of walking.

DAY 4 :

Trek of desert start from Oued Laatach to erg Chegaga dunes by trek morocco desert tour team. After breakfast, we’ll take a long trek through a very nice sahara desert place. After that you continue across very rocky small hills towards the large plateau of Chegaga,where you’ll spend your night.

DAY 5 :

Walk of erg Chegaga dunes to erg Bougerne by trek morocco desert tour team. After breakfast we’ll trek east across a large plateau to get to the other side of Oued Laatach, where you will have lunch before you head towards the direction of Bougerne, where your camp for the night is located.

DAY 6 :

Trekking trip from Bougerne to Mhamid village by trek morocco desert tour team. After breakfast it’s up and over the sand dunes across a breathtaking and quiet area, stopping in Mhamid. We’ll then transfer back to Ouarzazate via a 4x4. We’ll grab lunch in Zagora on the way, then, spend the night in a three star hotel in Ouarzazate.

DAY 7 :

Hiking From Ouarzazate to Marrakech by trek morocco desert tour team. After an early breakfast, the team will load the car then you’ll start the long journey back to Marrakech with a few rest stops on the way to enjoy the views and have lunch/drinks. The drive takes you to the Unesco World Heritage Site of Ait Benhaddou (used as a film area of movies such as Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, …Game of Thrones…ali baba) , we’ll visit it’s famous Kasbah of Morocco. We’ll carry on to the El Glaoui Kasbah in Telouat, and then have lunch near the atlas Tizi-n-Tichka before continuing to drive to Marrakesh.

Life is unpredictable and we understand that sometimes you have to cancel or change your trip dates and it is our endeavor to make it as easy as possible for you. However, please understand that we plan everything including guide fees, permits, accommodation and ration in advance. Therefore, any cancellation means inconvenience and certain losses to the people involved in various stages of the program. Keeping that in mind, our cancellation charges are as below, - Cancellations prior to 30 days from the start of the event: Full refund as cash. - Cancellations between 30 days and 15 days to the start of the event: 50 % refund as cash. - Cancellations less than 15 days to the start of the event: No refund. - Cancellations will be accepted only by email. Note: We reserve the right to cancel a program before departure in the event of logistical problems arising due to natural calamities, strikes, wars or any other circumstances that make the event inadvisable. In this case, we will refund 50% of the event fees.
