In the Sahyadri Hills of North Karnataka, Yana is a quaint Hill Station with a beauty that casts a spell and hills to appeal to the direct trekkers. Tucked in between one of the richest biodiversity centres of the world, Yana is a small hill station with immense beauty enough to captivate any soul that lays eyes on it. A small village located just 140 km from Hubli; Yana caves is famous as a centre of adventure, wildlife and religion hence proving to be the perfect getaway destination.

Blessed with the ever-enchanting greenery and freshness of the Sahyadri Hills of the Western Ghats, Yana is a hill station famous for housing two giant natural Limestone monoliths which attracts pilgrims in thousands every year. The Bhairaveshwara Peak and Mohini Peak are said to hold religious importance representing Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati respectively. Coupled with religious importance, it is also a great place to trek and bird watch. A trek to the twin peaks involves a very steep 3 km long trek which is at its worst slippery and it 's best breezy. The Yana village which symbolizes the rustic Indian rural life with mud roads, mushroom-like huts and a laid-back lifestyle allows you to get a glimpse of life in the Western Ghats.

 

How To Reach Yana

  • Air: Nearest airport is at Hubli which is 142 km from Yana. One can hail a cab or take state roadways buses till Yana.
  • Rail: Nearest Rail head is at Kumta which is just 20 km away from Yana. From here you can use local transport or hail a taxi for reaching Yana.
  • Road: NH 17 connects Yana to Hubli, two easiest approach roads to Yana are from Kumta & Sirsi. Local state buses and private buses ply from Hubli, Sirsi and Kumta to Yana.

 

Best Time To Visit 

The period from October till February is the best time to visit this beautiful hill station as it greets its visitors at its glorious best, the hills are greener, the trekking path is dry and there are countless more things to explore plus you do not need to carry a lot of layers of clothes and just a jumper sweatshirt should do. Monsoons are a period to avoid as the trekking path is slippery and rendered inaccessible plus most of the things are closed during this time as it is off-season.

 

Important Information About Yana

Sightseeing around Yana- The hill station is famous for two rock monoliths called Bhairaveshwara Shikhara and Mohini Shikhara which represent the former representing the natural manifestation of Lord Shiva's Linga and the former Goddess Parvati. The two giant edicts standing at 120m and 90m respectively are the greatest eye-catchers of the hills of Yana. Vibhuti Waterfalls is another must-visit attraction near Yana, an immensely beautiful site in the middle of Sahyadri Hills.

Food at Yana- Try out some great Kannad delicacies in Sirsi like bisi bele bhath, jolada rotti, vada sambar and mamsa saru.

 

Belekan Beach

Belekan Beach is one of the most remote Gokarna Beaches. To reach here, you can take a boat ride from Gokarna Beach. Moreover, you can also spot dolphins from this beach if you get lucky. Located close to Moonlight Beach, Belekan Beach is one of the most tranquil spots in all of Gokarna. 

From boating to indulging in beach sports like volleyball and frisbee, there are a lot of fun activities you can partake in at Belekan Beach. There is one thing you need to know about this beach though.

Since there are not many people here, boating is the only mode of transportation to this beach. Therefore, it is advisable to take the boat driver’s contact details to avoid getting stranded on the beach all alone. 

Gokarna is the home to one of the most scenic beaches in India. Beaches of Gokarna are fun to swim at, less crowded and very clean! This is what makes Gokarna one of the best alternatives to Goa for every Beach Lover.

Belekan Beach is a small rocky beach outside of Gokarna, but pretty close to Paradise Beach. If you want to start the Gokarna Beach Trek from the Paradise Beach side, this is the last point until which you can bring your vehicle. There are a few Shacks here which also offer decent food and stay options. It is mostly rocky with very little sand.

 

How to Reach Belekan Beach, Gokarna?

You can Reach Belekan Beach via road, hike or ferry. The route and trails are marked properly on Google Maps. If you are coming by road, you will have to come from Gokarna via Belekan Road (near Tadari). Ferries also stop at Belekan Beach.
