At a distance of 6 km from Ambikanagar and 24 km from Dandeli Bus Stand, Sykes Point is the top viewpoint in Dandeli and also one of the famous places of sightseeing in Dandeli.
It is a popular sightseeing attraction offering a beautiful view of deep valleys and thickly forested hills. Sykes Point is named after a British engineer who discovered it. From this viewpoint, one can get a good view of Nagzari River & River Kali confluence.
The viewpoint also offers a beautiful view of the sunset. Bird watchers frequent the site to watch the giant hornbills at this place. The Nagzari Power House of the Kali Project is situated at the bottom of the hill. Karnataka Power Corporation Ltd (KPCL) operates this power station. The surge tank, water moving facility, which feeds the turbines of Nagzari Power House, is located near Sykes Point. Kavala Caves are situated nearer to this point. Permission to visit Sykes point can be obtained from KPCL security office at Ambikanagar.

Tourists mostly visit the point to witness the beautiful top view of the Dandeli Valley covered with dense forests, observe several exotic species in their natural habitats and watch the confluence of River Kali and River Nagzari.
One of the most holy places for the pilgrims in Karnataka, Ulavi Temple is an important tourist attraction in Dandeli. It is considered a very sacred place for the Lingayat community with the samadhi of Channabasavanna, a revered 12th century Lingayat saint.
The temple is surrounded by a blanket of evergreen forests and the Western Ghats adorn the landscape. These forests also happen to a natural habitat for many rare wild animals like cheetahs, cobras, tigers, elephants etc.
Ulavi Temple is visited by thousands of pilgrims from all over Karnataka during the Ulavi Jatre or congregations. The natural beauty surrounding the temple is totally breathtaking and offers a peaceful getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Another distinct feature of the temple is that it is built in the Chalukyan style and also has a number of caves and stalactites for the tourists to explore.
At a distance of 71 km from Karwar, 47 km from Dandeli and 117 km from Hubli, Ulavi is a village in Uttar Kannada district of Karnataka. This is a very beautiful place amidst the Western Ghats and lies between Dandeli and Karwar.
Ulavi is one of the important religious places for the Lingayat sect in Karnataka and also one of the top places to visit near Dandeli. The Samadhi of Channabasavanna, one of the most revered saints of the Lingayat faith lies here. A Samadhi and a temple dedicated to Channabasavanna were built at Ulavi. Originally the temple was in Chalukyan style but it has been renovated and colored. The temple is adorned with statues of Shiva Sharanas (Devotees of Lord Shiva). A very famous Ulavi Jathra is held on Magha Purnima in February with great pomp.
Apart from its religious significance, Ulavi has numerous caves and shapely stalactites. Mahamane Gavi, Aakalu Gavi, Vibhoothi Mantapa, and Panchalingeshwara Cave are some important caves in Ulavi. The Channabasava Jalapatha or Kodihalli falls is a 50 feet height falls is also situated here.
