Shri Murudeshwar Temple

Murudeshwar Temple is located in Murdeshwar town in Bhatkal Taluk of Uttara Kannada district in the state of Karnataka, India. Murdeshwar is famous for the world’s second-tallest Shiva statue. This temple is built on the Kanduka Hill which is surrounded on three sides by the waters of the Arabian Sea. A 20-storied gopura is constructed at the temple. The temple authorities have installed a lift that provides a breath-taking view of the 123-feet Sri Shiva idol from the top of the Raja gopura.

 

Murudeshwar Beach

Konkan coast beaches are known to be clean and Murudeshwar Beach happens to be one among the lot. The clean white sandy beach extends up to 2-3 km easily and offers a range of water activities. Activities involve speed boats, water scooters, parasailing, boating and even snorkelling near Netrani Island.

 

Apsara Konda Falls

Apsarakonda is an beautiful waterfall near Honnavar, in the district of Uttara Kannada, Karnataka, India. Close to the Apsarakonda beach, this beautiful waterfall flows through the cliffs down to paddy fields and joins the sea. This falls is not very deep and around 10m high, making it the best spot to enjoy with family. The Place is well maintained and also has a beautiful garden with many sunset and beach view points.

 

Jali Beach

Among the temples on Murudeshwar-Gokarna route, this Ganesha temple is certainly a must-visit. Idagunji Temple has great mythological significance and over 1 million devotees visit the shrine every year. The legend dates back to the end of ‘dwapara-yuga’ and the beginning of ‘kali-yuga’.

 

Mirjan Fort

Located on the banks of River Aghanashini, Mirjan Fort is a royal reminder of our glorious history. This time-tested building is constructed from locally available laterite stone. Legend says that this was one of the most important places for the Foreign trades in Spices with Dutch, Portuguese and British.

 

Netrani Island

Also known as the 'Pigeon Island', Netrani Island in Murudeshwar is located off the coast of Karnataka. Views from above give this island the appearance of being heart-shaped. Rising above the tranquil and azure waters of the Arabian Sea, this heart-shaped island is counted as one of the best sites for scuba diving. This island is a famous tourist spot and a popular pilgrimage town with silvery sand and the western ghats as a backdrop. 

 

Sirsi

If you wish to visit a place that is commercial yet tranquil, Sirsi is the ultimate destination for a getaway. Providing the best of both worlds, this city lies in the Uttar Kannada district in the state of Karnataka. This city is circumscribed with dense forests and waterfalls and provides the travelers with many picturesque spots where they can unwind and relax. Sirsi is a part of the Western Ghats replete in flora and fauna, rich in religious places and home to spices and vanilla plantation. Basavaraja Durga Fort

Basavaraja Durga Fort was an island fortress situated in the Arabian Sea off the coast of Honnavar Taluk in Uttara Kannada District of Karnataka. 

The fort was constructed in the 16th century during Vijayanagar rule. Shivappa Nayaka, the Keladi ruler captured the fort and gave it the name of Basavaraja Durga in memory of Keladi Prince Basavaraj. This fort is surrounded by a strong fortification raised by gigantic laterite blocks.

 

Jog Falls

Jog Falls are unique as the water does not stream down the rocks in a tiered fashion; it thunders down the slope losing contact with the rocks, making it the tallest un-tiered waterfall in India. The beauty of the waterfalls is enhanced by the lush green surroundings, which provide a scenic backdrop. Visitors can hike to the base of the falls and take a plunge in the water.

 

Arishina Gundi Falls

Hidden deep inside the dense jungles of Mookambika Wildlife Sanctuary is a stupendous waterfall. Called Arishina Gundi Falls, this mesmerizing waterfall takes its origin in the Kodachadri Hills. Reaching the waterfalls is not easy, though. As they say, beauty is revealed to those who dare. The falls is a good five kms inside the sanctuary and the path with frequent steep gradients is a bit strenuous. The only way to reach it is by foot. Arishina Gundi Falls is a treat to the eyes. The plunge pool made by Arishina Gundi Falls is quite deep. The depth goes upto 30 feet in the centre.
