Umiam Lake


This beautiful lake is surrounded by thick coniferous forests and East Khasi Hills. Umiam Lake is one of the most alluring places to visit in Shillong. Famous as Badapani, this is a man-made water body, formed by building a dam on Umiam River. The lake is surrounded with few small islands and the joint Lum Nehru Park is a perfect place for walking and picnic.


Elephant Falls


It is located at upper Shillong and is regarded as one of the most beautiful places to visit in Shillong. Elephant Falls is a three-tier pouring beauty and the most alluring waterfall of the city. The Britishers named it so because of a huge rock that joins the waterfall bears an uncanny similarity with that of an elephant. Don Bosco Museum

Shillong Peak

David Scott Trail

Lady Hydari Park


This park was named after the first lady of the province- Lady Hydari. Lady Hydari park is one of the most popular Shillong tourist places and is also located at the East of Khasi Hills. The park is made up of a manicured garden. This garden includes beautiful rose beds and also a children’s play area which is spread over a large region. There is also a mini zoo inside the park, which is home to more than 73 species of birds and 100 species of reptiles.


Ward’s Lake


It is located at the police bazaar, in the heart of the city, and during sightseeing Shillong, it is not possible to miss the Ward’s Lake. This is another popular lake in Shillong, and is also known as Polok Lake. The lake is enclosed by a cobblestone walkway, which is perfect for evening walks.
