Hogenakal is Known as a waterfall (an area where water falls vertically under the course of a stream or river) in Southern India on the Kaveri River in Dharmapuri district. It is 180 km from Bangalore and 46 km from Dharmapuri. It can also be called as Niagara Falls of India, known as bathing áreas and for boating.


The Kaveri River is gaining strength as there is a small waterfall. Its climate depends a lot, and this affects when tourist prefers to visit. As such,the best time to visit is when the river is full or you prefer to visit times that don´t have a lot of crowd.

The best times to visit this waterfall are from July to August and October. For boat trips in Hogenakal, it is eventually allowed during the dry season because water falls are not strong enough to prevent boats from passing. This makes it a huge tourist attraction, merely to see the beautiful waterfalls and the surrounding nature. The spectacles with about 2,24 m in diameter can take about 8 people at a time. The boats are specially made of bamboo and it takes a day to build, the bottom of the boat is waterproof as it has the use of skins, it can also have plastics heets( which lead to criticism because currently trying to combat the use of plastic due to pollution). Another feature is the sale of fresh fish that are sold by the Geoge and various vendors who sell water and snacks. Some of the fish caught are typically the Katla, Robu, or Valai, among others.


Near Hogenakal there are various accommodation types of all price ranges about 60 km from these beautiful waterfalls.One such lodge, nicknamed, Cliff Resort. The city of Hegenakal has several attractive points such as Krishnagiri Dam, Melagiri Hills,Crocodile Rehabilitation Center, among other places.

There are several places to meet beyond traditional food, as well as food that we tourists are used to eat any where today. Its cuisine focuses mainly on Indian and Asianfood. One of the typical foods is known as AdaiAvial, a typically traditional South Indian recipe. The decoration of the hotel is typical of the region, something simple and cozy.
