Muthathi is a river which is located approximately 100 km from Bangalore. One can drive down here or take a bus which leads to the Kanakpura direction. One needs to carry food from home as there are no restaurants on the way where proper food is available. This place is proper for a days picnic as there is nothing much to do here except see the beauty of the place. There is a dam called T Narasipur and Sathanur which are full with waters flowing from the river of Cauvery. Revanasiddheshwara Betta is just 20 km from the river and one can include that in a day’s itinerary.

Galibore: 

Galibore is surrounded by huge Terminalia Arjuna trees, and the river cuts through in the front, which is bounded by hills on each side. One can spot herd of elephants near the bank of the river. Galibore is located 16 km away from Bheemeshwari,


Bheemeshwari Wildlife Sanctuary: 

This sanctuary is located amidst the waterfalls of Mekedatu, Barachukki and Gaganachukki in Mandya district. Its natural habitat harbours Mahseer fish, and houses an incredible variety of wildlife.


Muthathi is also close to the Cauvery river:

The Cauvery river flows through a series of rocks at Muthathi. The village is surrounded by hills. There are coracles available to cross the river. On the other side of the river there is vast stretch of interconnected streams through trees and sand. To trek in Muthathi one has to get the permission from Forest Department. It is dangerous to swim in the waters at Muthathi. There are reported cases of death at the place.


About the Cauvery River:

Kāveri or Cauvery, river in southern India, 760 km (470 mi) long, rising in the Western Ghats mountains. It flows southeast across Karnātaka and Tamil Nādu states, entering the Bay of Bengal through two principal mouths. Although of no value for commercial navigation, the Kāveri is highly important for irrigation purposes, chiefly in its Tanjore delta region, where there are extensive irrigation works, ancient and modern. In Karnātaka the falls of the river are utilized for the generation of electric power. The entire course of the Kāveri is holy ground to the Hindus, who call the river Dakshini Ganga, the Ganges of the South.

Muthathi is 100km from Bangalore. Main Route: Bangalore - Harohalli - Kanakapura - Sathanur - Muthathi Direct KSRTC and private buses are available to Sathanur. From Sathanur(24km away) private buses are available to Muthathi, which are less frequent. The best method is to take ones own vehicle to visit Muthathi.
