Sikkim is certainly one of India's most popular cycling destinations due to its geographical diversity. The mountains there vary in difficulty on the bike path. There are forest paths, dirt roads and steep slopes, all perfect for mountain bikers who love good challenges. Sikkim offers many options for your biker and you should not miss the opportunity to take advantage of them. But even if you're not an experienced mountain biker, there are easy trails so you can enjoy your tour. You won't be disappointed. Great place for cycling. 

 

Some of the places for Mountain Biking in Sikkim:

 

1. Gangtok-Ranka-Martam (29 km) 

Mountain biking tours from Gangtok to Lanka are fairly easy. You will almost ride downhill throughout the trip. Stop by Lanikhora for a break and sightseeing. From there you need to go uphill to Rumtek, where you will visit the Rumtek Monastery. This is a popular historic tourist destination in Sikkim. The bike tour then continues to the beautiful village of Maltam, where you can rest overnight. It will take about a day to complete this tour and you will be able to return to your location the next morning.

Best time for the tour: is October to the end of November. 

Nearby attractions: Lanikhora and Ramtec Monastery. 

 

2. YuksomKheochepari (25 km) 

Sikkim's mountain bike tour from Yuksom to Keochepali Melli is one of the most beautiful things you can find in Sikkim. Kheoche parimelli is a unique place. The bike tour starts in the morning and the first half is downhill. After arriving at attractions such as Khangchendzonga National Park, Lake Kechopari and Dabdi Monastery, you can take a break. The rest of the tour is a steep uphill, which is often difficult if you are not an experienced biker. 

Best time to tour: October to the end of November. 

Nearby attractions: Tashiteenka, Khangchendzonga National Park, Dabdi Monastery, Tashidin Monastery, Lake Kechopari.

 

3. Silwanitemi (27 km)

If you enjoy mountain biking uphill, this tour is perfect for you. Temi is at an altitude of 5500 feet. The entire route from Sylwani to Temi is steep and certainly gives you the excitement you'd expect from a mountain bike adventure trip. Temi is the only tea plantation in Sikkim. When you get there, you have to visit the plantation. Temi has a campsite where you can spend the night. 

Best time to tour: October to the end of November. 

Nearby attractions: Banjakuri Falls, Hanuman Tok, MG Marg, Ranka Monastery and Buddha Park. 

 

4. Temi Labongra (26 km) 

The first half of this bike tour in Sikkim leads to Damthang, a small and beautiful town in South Sikkim. It's 7,000 feet. However, Temi's rise is gradual, so you don't have to work hard. Labongra is at an altitude of 6,500 feet. The road from Damsan to Labongla is partially sloping, but mostly flat. Once in Labongra, you can explore this beautiful city and camp overnight there. Best time to tour: October to the end of November.

 

Nearby attractions include Mane Choekhorling Gompa, Yungdrung Kundrakling, Palchen Choeling Monastery and Buddha Park. 

 

5. PemayanstseRinchenpong (45 km) 

Start your mountain bike tour on the descent from Pemayanstse to Dentam. From there, turn to Rin Cheng Pong and your journey will gradually go uphill. However, after a few kilometres by bicycle, the road becomes fairly straight. The entire 45km mountain bike tour from Pemayanstse to Rinchenpong is a pretty fun challenge, if not too big. The surrounding area is beautiful and you can enjoy cycling in the countryside. You can stay at Rin Cheng Pong Village Resort. 

Best time to tour: October to the end of November. 

Nearby attractions: Pemayanze Monastery and Karuk Village. 

 

6. Maenam Borong (12 km) 

This mountain bike tour in Sikkim from Maenam to Borong must be done on foot. Borong is at 6000 feet, so the path from Maenam to it slopes. The 12km walk is very easy due to the downhill movement. You can take a break during the walk and take a short detour to some attractions. Once you get to Boron, you can take a break there at night and continue your mountain bike tour the next morning. 

Best time to tour: October to the end of November.

Nearby attractions: Bearry Bridge, Silver Falls, Galan Abbey, Fatak Village and Menam Wildlife Sanctuary.

 

7. TashidingYuksom (32 km)

If you like the scent of cardamom, this particular hike is something to remember. The mountain bike trail from Tashidin to Yuxam is almost perfectly flat, so it's very easy. But it doesn't make the trip so comfortable. A few kilometres drive through Cardamom Field will surely refresh you. Add to this the breathtaking beauty of the mountains and the greenery that surrounds the area. A comfortable ride will make your trip even better. 

Best time for the tour: is October to the end of November. 

Nearby attractions: Tashi Teenka, Kangchendzonga

 

8. Rin Cheng Pong Joresan (33 km) 

The journey from Rin Cheng Pong starts very easily. The first road is fairly flat and is fine. Enjoy the views of the surrounding mountains and enjoy the cool weather. Then it slowly turns into a descent through the ancient village of West Sikkim. There are several attractions along the way, such as Rinchen Pong Monastery and Green Lung Park. After enjoying a break for a while, continue your drive to Jolesan. 

Best time for the Tour: October to the end of November. Attractions near  Include Poison Lake, Rinchenpong Monastery, Green Lung Park and Kitam Bird Sanctuary.
