Mekedatu is a location along Kaveri in Kanakapura Taluk of Ramanagara District . Sangama is the place where Arkavati merges with Kaveri . From this point, about 3.5 kilometers downstream, the river Kaveri flows through a deep and narrow gorge . Mekedatu' means 'goat's leap' in Kannada
From Bangalore there are many tour operators who provide transport to Sangama. From Kanakapura it is exactly 26 km. The drive to mekedatu takes you through the rustic interior villages of Karnataka making the drive a memorable one. On the way there are boards showing directions to Mekedaatu and Sangama. You will have to first drive to Sangama and then proceed to Mekedatu from there. Once you reach Sangama you have to take a boat ride to reach the other side of the river. Then you can board a bus which keeps running every half an hour till 5 in the evening. 5.30 pm is the last bus from Mekedaatu to Sangama. After that no civilians are allowed in this place. Alternatively, you can walk to Mekedaatu after getting off from the boat. It is a good 5 to 6 km trek from there to reach Mekedaatu. On the way to Mekedaatu there is fishing camp called Galibore Fishing Camp. So if you have missed the Mekedaatu board you can reach by seeing this fishing camp board as well because this is also on the way.
There is only one hotel near the Sangama. Not much in varieties, but okay and also not sure that it will be open all the days.so its best to bring it from home. Other wise there are lot of small shops are there to have some snacks. However, there is no accommodation available at this place.
Sangama: About 3.5 kms away from Mekedatu is the site of the the rivers Kaveri and Arakavathi's confluence. The latter river merges into the former so that the resulting water body gets 150m wide. At Sangama, one can enjoy the experience of riding the traditional round boat coracle.
Sangameshwara Temple: Situated in Sangam, this holy place is a shrine to the Sangameshwara avatar of Lord Shiva. Devotees on their way to Mekedatu can stop by and offer worship to their god while enjoying a rich, scenic view. The temple was recently innovated, so there's places to relax as well.

Swimming: The fresh waters gnashing against the sculpted ancient rocks make for a ridiculously inviting sight on a summer day. So if you know how to swim, feel free to take a dip with your friends and have a good time!
Trekking: Those looking to exploring the regions on foot are welcome to trek alongside the river. Walking on the gorges and passing through forests is a delightful way to conclude your trip to Mekedatu.

Distance from from Bannerughatta to Chunchi Falls, Kanakapura is 71.8 km and travel time is around 1 h 52 min via NH948 and Kanakapura-Sangam Road. Chunchi Falls is located in the middle the amazing ranges of rocks on the banks of the River Arkavati. Chunchi Falls is located on the way to Yelehalli from Sangam. One can reach to Chunchi falls from Kanakapura. The waterfall is in the backdrop of scenic settings and it offers eye catching panoramic views of the surroundings.
You can take a day's break and visit this bewitching place located in Kankapura taluk in Bangalore rural district. Chunchi Falls is about 6km away from the deviation of the river. The waterfall is surrounded with deep green forests, adding to the natural beauty of the place. Chunchi falls is about 90 kms from Bangalore city. From Bangalore you have to go to Kanakapura. From Kanakapura you have to go on Sangama/ Mekedatu road. Before about 10 kms from Sangama you will find a signboard for chunchi falls to go towards left. Chunchi falls is around 6 kms on rural road.
From June to August is the best time to visit the Chunchi falls, since the river will be in the full flow. Do not make plans to stay around this place as there are not many accommodation facilities are available, so be cautious and do not make plans to stay overnight without booking any safe place to stay over. The falls themselves have no genuine hotels nearby, and one can try a safe hotel in Bangalore instead of trying to find out a good hotel in Kanakapura.
The rock formations and water is a great combination that attracts a lot of travellers. It is a great spot to relax and enjoy with family. If one loves adventure, one can go down and explore more below the Chunchi falls. The waterfall becomes almost flat, and one can also enjoy there with friends and family. There are a few attractions nearby Chunchi Falls, which are namely Sangam, Galibore Fishing Camp, Mekedatu Falls, Bheemeshwari and other tourist spots of Mysore. Travellers, who include Chunchi Falls in their itinerary, usually cover Sangam and Mekedatu along with the falls.
There is no decent accommodation near to the falls. Small Village is 3 km from the falls. It is advised to carry own food as there are no stalls near the falls. Accommodation is not available at Village as well.
