This area is bestowed with rich avian fauna. Many birds can be seen flying freely. It is also said that few wild animals can also be spotted once in a while here. As Mannavanur Lake is located inside a sheep farm, flocks of sheep can be seen grazing around the area.

Located around 34 km from Kodaikanal, Mannavanur Lake is accessible via road. It can be reached within 1 and half hours to 2 hours from the hill station. The road is mostly secluded and has very few vehicles running via it so it is advisable to plan your trip to this lake in day and return before the evening.

During your trip to Mannavanur lake you need to drive in highly dense forest. You can also feel the thrillness if travel via car or bike. On the way to Mannavanur lake you can also see the Mannavanur lake view point, Poombarai village view, Greeny forest, Different types of flowers, trees, valleys and if you are lucky you can also see the animals in the forest. 


Activities at Mannavanur Lake

The area around Mannavanur Lake is perfect for a relaxing picnic with your loved ones. Carry your food and sit amid the best of nature, spend a few memorable moments at this peaceful location.

Apart from picnics and walks, one can also go for coracle rides. The Forest department offers coracle rides with a nominal charge. One can also visit sheep farms. Horse riding is also a popular activity to do here.

To enter the lake complex, you are required to pay a minimal entry fee. Quite close to the entrance you will find a small food counter. Even one can hire horses for rides.

When in Mannavanur, you will not find many shops or eateries. Only a few small shops selling tea and basic snacks can be seen hence it is better to carry your food and other essentials along with you. For accommodation, Camper’s Club is the only choice available here.
