The Maldives' capital, Male City, is located on the southern edge of North Malé Atoll. The thick island canopy and picture-perfect scenery make it a true natural paradise that is a visual and sensory delight. In this natural refuge with palm-fringed lagoons and the most tranquil setting, you may get away from the rush and bustle of the outside world.

Additionally, it features an artificial beach where you can engage in a variety of fascinating water sports, including swimming, kayaking, and wakeboarding. If you prefer eating, you're in for a treat because the city is home to some of the busiest cafés and eateries where you can sample a variety of delectable cuisines. It also houses the Old Friday Mosque, the city's oldest mosque and a masterpiece of architecture.

Swimming, fishing, and taking in carnivals and parades are just a few of the thrilling things available in Male, Maldives, when it comes to excitement and pleasure. Male Market, which is the city's major retail district, is a great place to stock up on souvenirs for your friends and family members if you enjoy shopping. The Munnaaru, the city's oldest structure, is another place where you may purchase fresh fish in addition to admiring it.

Things to do in Male

While the city of Malé beholds experiences galore for its tourists and people, here’s a list of the best for making your holiday in the Maldives absolutely unique!

  1. Get entranced by the elegance of the Grand Friday Mosque

The Grand Friday Mosque, the largest and most significant mosque in the nation, is a superb illustration of straightforward yet eye-catching design. This mosque is exquisite and distinctive and provides a magnificent view of the sea. It was constructed using pristine white marble and only the towering golden dome as ornamentation. One of the first things you should do in Malé should be to visit the mosque.

  1. Discover historical treasures at the National Museum

The museum, one of the top things to do in Malé for history buffs, will take you on a journey through the Buddhist and Islamic eras with artifacts including stones, antiquities, and more.

  1. Visit the Hukuru Miskiiy (Old Friday Mosque)

The oldest mosque and most historic structure in Malé, Maldives, must be visited as one of the top things to do there. Due to its distinctive construction, the Hukuru Miskiiy, which was constructed in 1658, was included on UNESCO's preliminary cultural list. The gorgeous and intricately carved wooden panels and fine lacquer work within the mosque, which was constructed from coral and wood, are particularly remarkable. And this stunning place of worship's distinctive feature is the carving of Quranic texts into coral.

  1. Pay homage at the Tsunami Monument

This magnificent tribute for the victims of the 2004 Tsunami is a peaceful location next to the Artificial Beach. The spiraling monument's intriguing structure and design serve as a somber reminder of the influence that nature has over our lives. Spending some quiet time here while taking in the stunning view of Malé and the surrounding area is one of the city's most calming activities. Additionally, you can take a stroll to find some stunning photo opportunities and sunset vistas.

  1. Catch a breath of fresh air at the lush Rasrani Bageecha

The city's very own green oasis, formerly known as Sultan Park, is a perfect spot to get away from the hustle and bustle and unwind amidst lily ponds and huge leafy trees. A kids play area and a beautiful fountain with changing colors and shooting patterns can be seen in this serene park.

Best Time To Visit Male

Maldives is a beach destination that is sun-kissed and has a weather which is year-round suitable for a trip. However, the best time to visit Male is between November and April, i.e., during the dry season. December to March marks the peak tourist season or the best season to visit Male as, during this season, rainfall is almost negligible, and weather remains extremely pleasant. This period is also regarded as the best season to visit Maldives for honeymoon as couples get an opportunity to enjoy all types of activities due to ideal weather conditions. Though, being the busiest season in Maldives, it is also the period when beach resorts in Maldives are expensive.
