The Kudumari Waterfall is located in the Chaktikal village. This waterfall is also called Chaktikal Waterfall and Belligundi waterfall. The waterfall is amidst the forests that are bordering the Western Ghats. Its height is approximately 300 metres. One has to trek to reach this waterfall. During the trek, one has to pass through the beautiful forests that are filled with lots of greenery. The trek is also adventurous as one gets to walk through rocks and boulders as well as along the stream in order to reach the base of the waterfall. The atmosphere at this place is very calm and relaxing. One also gets to see the amazing coastline of the Arabian Sea from this waterfall.

Places to visit near Kudumari Falls, Udupi

Shri Nandaneshwara Devasthana Temple: This temple is historically important. It was approximately constructed before the 13th century. The temple was constructed by King Nandana Hegde because of his younger daughter Sreedevi who insisted on building the temple. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. There are also shrines for other deities like Lord Ganesha, Dhoomavathi and Kodamanithayya. The Rathotsav which is the annual car festival is celebrated here on a grand scale.

Shri Surya Narayana Temple: This temple is the home of Lord Surya. Based on its name the temple receives a lot of sunlight every day. In the centre of the temple, one finds a stone structure that is carved on all sides with many life forms and this indicates all the life forms that are dependent on the sun. This temple has a tiled roof and also marble flooring. There are also many beautiful wood and stone carvings in this temple.

Sri Gopalakrishna Temple: This temple is located at Shakti Nagar. It is dedicated to Lord Krishna. This temple is built by Shakti Groups of Institutions. One has to climb 108 steps in order to reach the garbhagriha of this temple. Each of the steps represents the 108 names of Lord Krishna. This temple is very spacious and it also has three different halls. The halls are very well maintained and various ceremonies take place in the halls. Midday Annaprasadam is also given to all those who visit the temple.

The Mirjan Fort: It is located on the banks of the River Aghanashini. This fort is spread over an area of approximately 4.1 hectares. The fort is built from the laterite stone that was available locally. It is believed that many battles were fought here in the 16th and 17th centuries and that this fort was functional till 1785. The British then captured this fort and it was used for the armory. In the fort, one finds canals, moats, secret passageways, and many other things in order to fortify this fort.  There is a popular tale which states that this fort was one of the most important places for foreign trades in spices that took place among the Dutch, the British and the Portuguese. In the year 2001 many archaeological excavations were carried out here at this place. The things found include laterite structures that belong to the medieval period, gold coins that are attributed to the Portuguese Viceroy Conde De Sarzedas, cannon balls,  Chinese porcelain, and clay tablets with Islamic inscriptions on them. This monument has been declared as a protected monument by the Archaeological Survey of India and some recent renovations have been done to the fort.

Magod Waterfall: The height of this waterfall is approximately 200 metres. It is a two-tiered waterfall that consists of the Bedti and the Shalmala River. This waterfall is also a good picnic spot. It is also a good place to click amazing pictures. One has to trek to reach this waterfall. During the trek, one has to pass through forests. This waterfall is surrounded by a lot of greenery and the atmosphere here is very calm and peaceful.

Sathodi Waterfall: The height of this waterfall is approximately 15 metres. It is located amidst the dense forests of the Western Ghats. The water from this waterfall falls into a pool below. It is also a good picnic spot. One can also enjoy a good swim in the pool below. The rock formations around this waterfall are quite noteworthy and they add more beauty to the landscape. Tourists can also click good pictures at this waterfall.

Nirvana Beach: This beach is not very crowded. One can watch a good sunrise and sunset at this beach. This beach also acts as a good picnic spot. Tourists can also enjoy a good swim in the waters here. They can also enjoy a nice walk on the beach. The atmosphere at this beach is extremely pleasant.
