Kedar Tal is known as the most mysterious lake of Uttarakhand. This lake is located in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand at an altitude of 4750 meters above sea level. According to the locals, this lake is dedicated to Shiva. That is why it is also called by the name of Shiva's lake. It is believed that Lord Shiva himself drank water in Kedar Tal situated in the lap of nature. When Lord Shiva ingested Halahal poison in his throat, his throat started burning, he drank water in the lake to avoid the same burning.
The Kedar trek is beautiful as well as quite difficult, however, if you are an adventure lover then you will be able to cross this difficult trek without facing any difficulty. This trek is surrounded by many snow-capped mountains which add to the beauty of this trek. Seeing these snow-capped mountain ranges in the sky full of stars at night has its fun.
If you plan to visit Kedar Trek during summer then visiting between mid-May to the end of June is ideal. However, if you prefer going in the winter season then you must visit the Trek between mid-September to the end of October as these are the best times to do the Kedartal trek.
For your information, let me tell you that there is no place to stay in the Kedartal trek, although you can do camping on the trek, for this, you have to keep camping-related items with you like a tent, LED torch, food and other things.

By Air: You can take a flight from any major city of India to Jolly Grant Airport Dehradun and from there take a taxi to reach Kedartal which is about 295 km from the airport though you have to go to Gangotri instead of Kedartal From where you can start the journey of Kedartal trek.
By Shared Taxi: You can also reach Uttarkashi by taking a shared taxi though for this you have to catch a taxi from Parade Ground Taxi Stand or Rispana Pul Taxi Stand in Dehradun at 5 am. You will have to pay 300 rupees for this taxi and in about 5 hours this taxi will reach you to your destination.
By Train: The nearest railway station to Kedartal is Dehradun Railway Station. The distance of Kedartal from here is about 259 kilometers. From here you can easily take a taxi or car to reach Gangotri.
By Bus: You will not get any direct bus from Dehradun to Gangotri. The bus will also take you to Uttarkashi after which you will have to reach Gangotri by taking a shared cab.
