It takes around 9 hours to 11 hours by bus journey from Bangalore to Murudeshwar. If you’re choosing to travel by road, then you can either opt for state run KSRTC buses or private tour & travel agencies. One of the best ways to reach Murudeshwar is by road because the town is well connected by roads and there are regular buses which operate from major cities to Murudeshwar. The driving distance between Bangalore Cant to Murudeshwar is 469 km. It takes approximately 6h 49m to drive from Bangalore Cant to Murudeshwar.

The total driving distance from Bengaluru to Murudeshwar is around 514 km. There are three routes that can be taken, which are as follows:

Route 1: Bengaluru-Tumakuru-Davengere-Haveri-Sirsi-Murudeshwar, via NH 48.

Route 2: Bengaluru-Kunigal-Hassan-Chickmagaluru-Agumbe-Murudeshwar, via NH 75. 

Route 3: Bengaluru-Lepakshi Challakere-Davangere-Haveri-Sirsi-Murudeshwar, via NH 48 and NH 44. For those who are opting to travel by Route 1, it would take you approximately around 9 h to reach Murudeshwar, via NH 48. The route takes you through the well-known towns of Davangere, Haveri, etc. The roads are well maintained, which helps one to cover the distance at a good pace and the destination is about 514 km through this route.

If you opt for Route 2, it would take you approximately 9.45 h to cover a total distance of 481 km from Bengaluru to Murudeshwar, via NH 75. On Route 3, it would take you around 10.45 h to cover the distance of 601 km, via NH 48 and NH 44, to reach Murudeshwar. The journey can be planned as a weekend drive. So, one can opt to leave on a Saturday morning and after spending about a day and half, one can start travelling to Bengaluru either on a Sunday morning or afternoon and reach the city by evening or night.

 

Murudeshwar from Bangalore by Train

There is no direct train from Bangalore Cant to Murudeshwar. However, there are services departing from Cubbon Park and arriving at Murudeshwar via Majestic and Yesvantpur Jn. The journey, including transfers, takes approximately 15h 20m.

Major cities and towns across the nation, including Mangalore and Bengaluru, are connected to the Murudeshwar railway station. About 3 kilometres to the east of the town is the railroad station.

There is a railroad station in Murudeshwar, but not many long-distance trains stop there. Going to Bhatkal railway station in Bhatkal town, which is only 15 km from Murudeshwar, is the simple solution. There are numerous KSRTC and private buses departing from Bhatkal every ten minutes for Murudeshwar.

The Yesvantpur-Karwar Express/16515, which runs every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, leaves Yesvantpur station at 7:30 am and arrives at Bhatkal station at 3:40 pm.

 

Murudeshwar from Bangalore by Air

The town of Murudeshwar lacks an airport. The airport in Mangalore, which is around 154 kilometres from Murudeshwar, is the closest one. Despite several flights connecting the airports in Mangalore and Bangalore, it is recommended to avoid flying to Murudeshwar. It takes a lot of time and is highly expensive. However, if you decide to fly, you can choose between the KSRTC bus or train services out of Mangalore to get to Murudeshwar.
