Hirekolale Lake is a beautiful man made lake that is surrounded by high mountains making this place really scenic and thus many tourists come here to visit this place. This place is located in Karnataka and is not very far away from Chikmagalur and approximately 50kms from Kemmangundi. This lake was built in order to supply water for the purpose of drinking and also for irrigation purposes to the town of Chikmagalur.One can also view the Mullayanagiri Hills from this lake. The best time to come to the lake is during twilight because one gets to see amazing views of the landscape there. For all those who love watching sunsets this place is the perfect place to watch an ideal sunset which can also be captured in a camera.

 

TRANSPORTATION AND BEST TIME TO VISIT HIREKOLALE LAKE

In order to reach the lake,one can drive down there in a car. One can also book a cab to reach there. There are buses from the  Chikmagalur bus stand that one can also take to reach the lake. The nearest railway stations to Hirekolale Lake are Birur Junction and Kadur Junction. One can get down at either of these stations and then accordingly take a cab or bus to reach the lake. The nearest airport to the lake is the Shivamogga Airport from where one will have to take a bus or taxi to reach the lake. One can visit this lake from the months of September to March as it is the best time to come here since the climate is very pleasant.
