The Hidlumane Waterfall is located in the Mookambika forests of Shimoga. The height of this waterfall is approximately 50- 70 feet. This waterfall happens to be a series of 6 waterfalls and each of these is very beautiful. All these waterfalls are actually hidden from one another. The best one however is located right on top and the view from there is quite amazing. The water from this waterfall falls into a pool below. One can have a good swim in the pool. This waterfall is located amidst the greenery of the Western Ghats and the atmosphere here is quite pleasant. One has to trek in order to reach this waterfall. The trek route passes through a dense forest and also over steep hills. In the forest, there is abundant greenery which one can gaze at and also beautiful birds to see. One also finds plenty of dead wood here and the shape of the wood is also quite unusual which makes it good to look at.
The Mangalore Airport is close to this place. From the airport one can take a bus or a taxi to reach the waterfall. There are many buses that one can take to reach the waterfall. If not by bus, one can also travel by a taxi or even a private vehicle to reach this waterfall. The Kundapura Railway station is close to this place. From the railway station one can take a bus or even hire jeeps to reach this waterfall. The best time to visit this waterfall is from the months of September to January.

Sarvajna Peetha: This is located on the Kodachadri Peak. The place is also called as Shankara Peetham. It happens to be just a small temple-like structure but religiously it is quite important. This place is believed to have been visited by Shankaracharya while he was on his spiritual journey. It is because of this reason that this place is very popular especially among the followers of Shankaracharya.
Sonda: This town is a temple town. It is also called Sode. The town was located at an altitude of approximately 2000 metres above sea level. Sonda was considered to be important during the reign of the Swadi Kings right from the 16th century to the 18th century. The Vadiraja Mutt was established by Sri Vadiraja. The reason behind doing so was to spread the philosophy of Sri Madhvacharya. The Rama Trivikrama Temple here is quite famous. This temple is dedicated to Lord Trivikrama who is incarnation of Lord Vishnu. In the sanctum of this temple one finds an image of Trivikrama. Outside the sanctum one finds a stone chariot which is usually used during the temple festivities. Inside this chariot one finds an image of Sri Mahalaxmi who is the consort of the Lord. In the northern side of this temple one can find the entrance to the Vadiraja Mutt. One will walk on 24 steps to reach the Mutt. The Vadiraja Mutt has two other Mutts close by to it and one also finds a Jain Basadi and even a temple which is dedicated to Lord Venkataramana here.
Bhatkal: This is considered to be one of the oldest towns of Karnataka. The region was a part of the Hoysala dynasty but it was invaded numerous times. Further this place was also ruled by other dynasties like the Vijayanagara Empire, The Saluva rulers and also the Cholas who have made several changes to this place. Tipu Sultan also ruled over Bhatkal till the time he was defeated by the British. There is also a strong influence of the Portuguese on this town. There are many temples, Jain Basadis and also mosques here that one can visit. The famous ones are the Khalifa Masjid, The Moor Masjid, The Kethapayya Narayan Temple, etc. The beaches here are also quite renowned and one can visit them too.
Kumta: This town is located on the coastline and hence it is quite famous. The beaches at this town have interesting rock formations as a backdrop to them. Aanegudde: In the Kannada language Aanegudde actually means the elephant hill. This village is quite famous for its Siddhi Vinayaka Temple. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vinayaka. There is a popular mythological tale associated with this temple that states that Sage Agastya was performing a ritual here for the well-being of the people. The demon Khumbasura was making all efforts to stop this ritual. However, later Bheem who was one of the Pandavas killed the demon by a powerful sword that Lord Vinayaka gave him. Once Sage Agastya completed this ritual the people of this place started to become prosperous and then they began to worship Lord Vinayaka. In this temple one finds an idol of Lord Ganesha who happens to be standing in a position where his two hands face upwards and that is known as the Varad Hasta which indicates offering divine boons. The other two hands face downwards and that indicates salvation. This idol has silver armor which makes it look huge. The Ganesh Chaturthi festival is celebrated here on a grand scale.
