The Hanumana Gundi Falls is a beautiful waterfall which is located close to the main road between Sringeri and Kudremukh. It is another popular tourist destination. This waterfall is also known as Sutannabe Falls. The height of this waterfall is approximately 100 feet. This waterfall is maintained by the Forest Department. In order to reach the waterfall one will have to climb about 300-400 steps after walking away from the main road. Thus this also becomes a good place for trekking. One can also swim at this place and enjoy the beauty of nature here.

The nearest airport to the waterfall is the Mangalore Airport. From there one can take a bus or a taxi to reach the waterfall. There are KSRTC buses that operate from all major cities of Karnataka that will take one to the waterfall. One can also hire a taxi in order to reach the waterfall. It is also possible to travel by one's own vehicle there. The Udupi Railway station is the nearest to the waterfall. From there one can take a bus or a taxi to reach the waterfall. The post- monsoon season is the best time to visit this place.

PLACES TO VISIT
One can visit the Karkala town that has religious importance. This town is known for the Jain Basadis and a huge monolithic statue of Bahubali or Gomateshwara. This statue is believed to have been by Veerpandya Bhairava Raja of the Pandya dynasty. The statue was built to commemorate the fact that Prince Bahubali spent 12 years meditating here. On the occasion of Mastakhaabhisheka that is held every 12 years this statue is bathed in saffron paste, milk and water. Another place that one can see here is the St.Lawrence Church. This Church is in Attur. It is said this Church is the third church that was built because the other structures were destroyed twice by Tipu Sultan. On their way to search for a new place to build the Church, it is believed that the parishioners carried the statue of St. Lawrence with them and since they wanted to quench their thirst they stopped in Attur at Pushkarini Pond. After that when the parishioners tried to lift the statue they were not able to lift it and thus they decided to build the Church at this place. Thus this Church is almost 200 years old and a beautiful place to see. The Shri Venkataramana Temple is another popular temple in Karkala. It is dedicated to Lord Shri Srinivas and Utsava Murthy. A grand procession is organised by the temple where Lord Srinivas is carried out in a golden mandap. There are also many cultural programmes of folk dance and music that are held to glorify the rich culture of the temple.
Another unique town that one can visit is Moodabidri. This town has a unique characteristic because it has 18 lakes, 18 temples, 18 roads connecting various villages and also 18 Jaina Basadis. The most famous Basadi here is the Tilaka Tribhuvana Chudamani Basadi. This is the most ornate place as compared to other Jain temples. Another name for this temple is the Thousand Pillar Temple which means Savira Kambada Basadi as this temple has a large variety and also many pillars. This temple is also known as Chandranath Basadi because an eight foot idol of Chandranath is worshipped here. The other Jain monuments found here include Guru Basadi, Ammanavara Basadi and also an idol of Parshwanath. The other temples that tourists visit here are the Hanuman Temple and the Gowri Temple.
Agumbe is another spot that one can visit. This village consists of just a thousand people who live in the hills. The place receives heavy rainfall and the rainfall helps in making the landscape and greenery all the more beautiful. It is also the wettest place in South India. This place is also rich in biodiversity and another name for this place is the country of the King Cobra. One can watch a beautiful sunset here and also indulge in trekking.
The Barkana Falls are located in the Shimoga district of Karnataka. The waterfall is another tourist attraction. This waterfall was a very popular filming location for Malgudi Days which was RK Narayan's novel. One can enjoy a picnic here as there is lush greenery around. This place is also good for trekking,adventure sports and even fishing. Barkana is also an important site for the hydroelectric project of Karnataka.
Another place of historical importance that one can visit is the Sultan Battery which was made by Tipu Sultan. Although the place is small in size it still appears like a fortress. The purpose behind building this place was to stop the British from making their way into the Gurupura river. Around the exterior of this fort there are arrangements for mounting cannons.
For all those who love beaches and adventures they should definitely visit the Panambur Beach. At this beach one can do many things like quad biking, surfing, watch dolphins,enjoy a ride on a horse or a camel, do parasailing and also enjoy using water scooters.
One can also visit the Bandaje Falls. This waterfall is also known as Bandaje Arbi where the term Arbi means Falls in Tulu. This also is another famous trekking spot in the Western Ghats. This waterfall is not very far away from Ujire which is a small town near Dharmasthala that is known for its Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Educational Trust Institution. It is possible to camp at the summit here during the summer season.
