The Hadlu Waterfall is another popular tourist destination. They are situated approximately 250kms away from Bangalore. This place is also good for trekking and the atmosphere here is also quite pleasant. During the trek to reach this waterfall one has to pass through beautiful coffee plantations and forests. This waterfall is divided into six stages. From the waterfall, one gets to see an amazing landscape as there is greenery everywhere. The most interesting thing that people like to do here is to take a swim in this waterfall as the water here is quite cold.

The Sakleshpur Railway station is the closest to this place. From there one can take a bus or a taxi to reach the waterfall. There are many buses that one can take to reach here. If not bus one can also take a taxi to reach here. The Mangalore Airport is the closest to this place. From the airport, one will have to take a bus or a taxi to reach the waterfall. The best time to visit the waterfall is during the rainy season.

PLACES TO VISIT

The Betta Byraveshwara Temple is an ancient temple and is located near Mekanagadde in Sakleshpur. This temple is found atop of the Pandavar Gudda Hill and is considered to be approximately 600 years old. The temple is also known as Bettada Bhairaveshwara Prasanna Temple. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. In Indian mythology, it is believed that the Pandavas from Mahabharata stayed here for a short period of time when they were in exile. At the temple one also gets to see big grinding stones. The temple is surrounded by the Western Ghats and the view from the temple is a sight to behold. There is also an annual Abhisheka which is held here once a year in the month of January where people come to take blessings. Close to this temple, there are beautiful hills where one can go and enjoy trekking.

 

The Charmadi Ghat is a scenic spot to visit. This ghat is also known as Charmady Ghat. It has quite narrow roads as compared to other ghats. This ghat is surrounded by beautiful forests, evergreen shrubs, streams, and also waterfalls. One finds here the Netravati River which lies between Charmadi and Kudremukh. Another waterfall that one finds here is the Bandaje Arbi Waterfall. This waterfall is situated at a height of 200 feet. The famous Ballalarayana Durga Fort can also be visited. This Ghat is also a biodiversity hotspot as one finds here many medicinal plants and also animals like elephant, deer, panther, etc. It is also possible to spot birds here like the Hawk, White Swan, etc. One can also indulge in many activities here like trekking, rock climbing, bird watching, and also camping.

 

Ombattu Gudda is another tourist spot famous for trekking. Ombattu Gudda actually means Nine Hills. It is called so because of the nine domes of the hills that one can see from the top. The trek is quite adventurous and at the same time difficult too. One can start this trek from Gundiya. The trek route is within the Kabinhole Reserve Forest. Thus on this route, one comes across many animals and birds here. There are also many beautiful streams that one will find while trekking. The Kabinhole River is something one should look out for as the water here is crystal clear and is a sight to behold. The trek can be ended at Hosakere. One gets to see amazing views from the hill during sunrise and sunset.

 

The Pandavar Gudda Hill is another popular tourist destination. It is located in the Mekanagadde Village. Raja's Seat is a popular scenic spot to visit. Raja's Seat actually means Seat of the Kings. It is called so because Kings used to come here and enjoy the beautiful scenery around. Watching the sunrise and sunset from here is truly mesmerizing. There is also a beautiful park here. One also finds here the Gandhi Mantap. This is the place where the remains of Mahatma Gandhi are kept. There is also a toy train here which is a good ride for children.

 

The Dubare Elephant Camp is another fun place to visit. Here the elephants were trained for the famous Mysore  Dasara. There are a number of activities here that help the visitor understanding elephants better. There are trained naturalists here who give the visitor information about elephant history, ecology, and biology. One also gets an opportunity to interact with elephants here. People also get to see elephants playing in the water, how they are given a bath, how their food is made, and even how they are fed. thus truly making it a fun place to visit.
