People always crave a break from the same old scenery, mundane routine life and the day to day city experiences. A vacation to the Maldives is not only a treat to the eyes but also to the soul. You can enjoy the sandy white beaches and crystal clear blue waters while also relaxing your mind and body thoroughly. You will be secluded on an island almost all alone enjoying a luxurious resort. If that doesn’t sound appealing then what is? Refresh your mind and soul by visiting Fulhadhoo Island which is too beautiful to miss out on.

The small island of Fulhadhoo located in the southern Maalhosmadulhu Atoll and two hours away from the capital city of Male is fairly uninhabited and is one of the most stunning islands in the Indian Ocean. The island is everything you would hope to see and experience when booking a trip to the Maldives. With less than 250 people residing in a small village on the west side of this island, the place is basically uninhabited and nothing short of a paradise.

Fulhadhoo Island is every explorer's dream with white sandy beaches, palm trees, crystal clear lagoons varying in shades of blue and several hidden and undiscovered treasures. For people looking for a day away from city life, the tranquil atmosphere of this island is the perfect place to kick back and relax.

Description of Fulhadhoo Island

Fulhadhoo Beach is in the list of the 30 best in the world due to its pristine beauty, which doesn't require any photoshop. White shore is covered with powder-like sand, and the horizon and the ocean strike with unbelievably blue.

Fulhadhoo is the only inhabited island. Locals live in a small village in the East. They mostly fish or engage in traditional crafts. Lack of civilization is great for those who have privacy, merging with nature.

Lovers of hiking in the woods and scuba diving will be delighted with the local conditions, because palm trees and dolphins are more common than people. Families with children will appreciate the local shallow lagoons, which are well warmed and safe for babies. Around Fulhadhoo more than 15 small Islands, many reefs, where divers swim near colorful fish and turtles are not afraid of people.

Scuba diving and freediving are the main visitors' activities. The holiday on Fulhadhoo Beach is quite cheap, and the locals are friendly. There are no facilities on the beach, except for a few sunbeds under bamboo canopies. Shelter from the sun is provided by trees and dense bushes, and all kinds of amenities are provided to the inhabitants of coastal guest houses.

Home reefs are examined by divers with equipment provided by guest houses. The best area for holiday is the South-Western part of Fulhadhoo. In the West the island is washed by the powerful stream, so swimming there can be dangerous.

Things To Do On Fulhadhoo Island

  1. Unwind on a beach: The sandy white beaches and immense scenic beauty are the main reasons why people want to visit these islands. You can relax and enjoy your leisure time tanning under the sun or going through a book or gaze at the shoreline in front of you. Spend some quality time on the beach watching the sun go down with your loved one. You will find most people sunbathing under the hot sun. Find your own spot and enjoy the beach. You can even grab a beach volleyball and make some new friends while playing on the beach.
  2. Snorkelling: This is the most popular activity to do in the Maldives. This water sport can not be missed out on Fulhadhoo Island. Most resorts offer this activity and you can book a guided trip on the spot at your resort. You can even hire the gear and go out on your own into the waters if you don’t wish to book any sessions.
  3. Scuba diving: The reefs are so natural and untouched that it is one of the best places to scuba dive. The activity is a must-do and one of the best places to experience it in the entire world. There are no distinct diving sites on this island so you can go ahead without taking professional assistance. You must know the basics of diving as this is not a place for first-timers.
  4. Spot Dolphins and Turtles: Since Fulhadhoo is relatively further away on the Atoll and from most other islands, the ocean around the island is filled with schools of different species of colourful fish and other exotic sea creatures. Dolphins and turtles are also spotted relatively close to this island.
  5. Swim in the lagoons: On Fulhadhoo Island, the lagoons are a great place to take a dip in the clear waters surrounded by trees that make it an almost mystical site. Some of these lagoons are shallow enough to make a natural pool which allows children to wade into the waters and enjoy their day without worrying anybody.
  6. Relax in beach resorts: The island hosts a total of four accommodations where meals and several luxury activities such as spas can be enjoyed. Aside from this, a stroll through the east side village to experience the island culture is also a great idea.
