Fairy Falls is one of the least discovered waterfalls in Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu. There is not much besides this waterfall in the adjacent areas therefore; this place is quite serene with a hint of flora and fauna all around.

Situated in the beautiful South-Indian station of Kodaikanal, the enchanting Fairy Falls is the source of the Pambar River which joins into the Vaigai River later on. This fall which is the excess of the rural community reservoir flows southwards of the hill. Due to its breathtaking scenic beauty, the Fairy Falls also makes up for a popular picnic spot. One can spend time here with their family and friends while admiring the natural beauty around and relax amidst the lush greenery and pleasant weather.

Also famous for swimming, the waterfall is visited by tourists and residents who come here and enjoy swimming at the bottom of the falls. Though the place can be visited all through the year, the perfect time to pay a visit to the Fairy Falls is immediately after the monsoon season comes to an end. The area where water after cascading down the craggy rocks settles at the end of the foot of the falls can be accessed easily where one can dip their feet, get wet and have a refreshing swim in the waters. In front of the falls lies a stone bridge from where tourists can get the view of the beautiful white water spurting down the hill. Fairy Falls was formed at this location after the spillover from the rural community water reservoir. You will also come across small food vendors present at the point selling delicious snacks. 

Although no direct roads lead to this waterfall, you may still take directions from the locals to reach this place. The surrounding area is clean, unlike most tourist spots. If you want to just let the sound of the falling water soothe your soul, this is the right place for you.


How To Reach

Reaching Fairy Falls is hassle free as it is located at a distance of 6 km from Kodaikanal bus station. One can reach the Fairy Falls by taking a cab or using the local transport since it is situated at a distance of 6 km from the Kodaikanal Bus Station. Located 5 km away from the Kodai lake, the Fairy Falls is very well-connected to the town via the road. 


Best Time To Visit

Kodaikanal is lovingly referred to as The Princess of Hill stations. Built around an exotic star shaped lake, the region exudes ethereal charm like that of fairy-tales. The best time to visit Kodaikanal is from October - June, however, the weather remains a bit chilly during December and January. Cliffs, valleys, waterfalls and forests, carved out of nature’s nooks and crannies, band together as one. Kodaikanal can be visited through the year, but the ideal time is in the winter between October and March. The summer and monsoon months from April to June and between July and September respectively, also make for a good Kodaikanal trip.

Fairy falls are located in the beautiful South Indian hill station of Kodaikanal, in the state of Tamil Nadu. The supply of water to the cascade is from the seepage of the Kodaikanal Municipal Reservoir. This picturesque hill station town of Kodaikanal is based in the Palani Hills. There are several small shops selling fruits and spices in the main market of the town. Authentic South Indian cuisine can be tasted in any of the restaurants. The nearest airport to the Fairy Falls is at Madurai, 80 kms from the Falls. The closest rail head to the Fairy Falls is Kodaikanal Road Railway Station Junction about 2 kms from the cascade. Fairy Falls are located in Pambarpuram area in Kodaikanal. Fairy waterfalls are very beautiful and it is located along with a small dam in a very secluded area full of trees. The falls is very tall. During monsoon, this place looks heavenly beautiful as the waterfall is in full force.
