Known as the freshwater lake, Dodital is full of natural beauty. Due to its natural beauty, Dodital is attracting tourists from all over the country. Tourists from far away flock here for trekking. In this beautiful lake, you will get to see many types of rare species of fish and icy bugyal. Although this species of fish, called the rare brown trout, is present at an altitude of 10 thousand feet above sea level. According to the local people, these fishes are present in this lake since the time of the princely state.
Despite being destroyed by the disaster government opened the trek route. However, the arrival of tourists here has reduced in the past few years, due to which the road becomes dangerous. However, DFO Sandeep Kumar has assured in an interview that the Dodital route destroyed by the disaster will be rectified soon as an alternative. Nestled in the lap of the Himalayas, this trekking point is considered one of the best lakes in the country due to its natural beauty. Many mythological stories are also associated with Dodital. According to locals, Lord Ganesha was born in Dodital. Some people also believe that the origin of this lake was from the natural spring and the source of the river Ganga.
In my opinion, visiting Dodital in Summer, especially in June is ideal. A green and colourful bugyal meadows during summer will make your trek precious.
OrangUtan Homestay, Bhangeli village
It's a wooden mansion in the Mid Himalayan region nestled at a height of 2,400 meters. Guests must walk 1.5 kilometres uphill via countless rhododendron tres to get here. Bhangeli village is comprised of a small community of peaceful Shepard families. The homestay features a cave that is designed for campfires and resting. The location is ideal for photographers. Visitors to this homestay can simply enjoy farming activities with the settlers on their farmlands, or horse riding. Due to being nestled in the mid-Himalayan region, visitors can inhale the purest air flowing through the forests.

The Raithal barbeque homestay also has a rooftop that visitors can utilize to practise yoga or meditation. Gaurikund is 44 kilometres away. Hence, guests can also travel to Gaurikund once finish the trek. Dehradun Airport is also 80 kilometres away from the Raithal barbeque homestay. Therefore, if you're arriving from Dehradun airport then you can simply hire a taxi to reach the homestay.
Shrigangalok Hotel
Shrigangalok is a hotel in Uttarkashi that provides lodging. This hotel features family rooms as well as a balcony for visitors. From the balcony of the rooms, guests can enjoy stunning river views. A vegetarian breakfast is available to visitors at the hotel. The nearby airport is Dehradun Airport, which is just 68 kilometres away. So you can easily reach the hotel from Dehradun by taxi.
By Air: You can reach Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun by air and from there you can take a taxi or bus to reach Uttarkashi.
By Train: You can also catch a train from any major city in the country to Rishikesh, Haridwar, or Dehradun as all these places are well connected by railway routes. From any of these places, you can take a taxi or bus to reach Uttarkashi.
By Road: State transport buses run regularly between Uttarkashi and Rishikesh, so you can also reach Uttarkashi by bus. You can also reach Uttarkashi from Haridwar or Dehradun by bus or taxi. Let me tell you that from Dodital, Uttarkashi is only 19 km away.
