Seminyak is a vibrant coastal area in Bali known for its eclectic mix of attractions. Whether you’re looking for relaxation, adventure, or spiritual growth, Seminyak has something for everyone. Here are three must-try activities that will make your trip to Seminyak an unforgettable experience.

  1. Explore Seminyak and Double Six Beach:
Start with the number one activity in Seminyak – spending time on the beach! Seminyak and Double Six Beach are bustling places filled with beach bars, local vendors selling kites, towels, and other beach essentials, surfers practicing their moves, and people swimming or sunbathing. It’s an excellent spot to unwind and enjoy the energy of this dynamic area. Plus, there’s a wide range of restaurants along the beach for when you get hungry!

  2. Surfing Lessons:
Seminyak and Double Six Beach are renowned surf spots in Bali. If you’re looking to learn how to surf or just want to hit the waves, this is your next stop. Even if you’ve never tried it before, Seminyak offers a great learning environment with its consistent swells and mellow conditions. One popular spot for beginners is Echo Beach. 1. Yoga and Spiritual Wellbeing:
Are you planning a trip to Bali to rejuvenate your mind, body, and spirit? Look no further! Seminyak offers various yoga studios where you can deepen your practice and connect with like-minded individuals. While Ubud may be known as Bali’s yoga capital, Seminyak is an excellent alternative with its wide range of studios and classes. Embrace the serene atmosphere and let the healing power of yoga enrich your journey to this beautiful island. Discover Seminyak’s Top-Notch Yoga Studios: If you’re looking for a yoga practice during your stay, consider visiting Ashtanga Yoga Shala, Yoga 108, or Jiwa Yoga. These studios in Seminyak are renowned for their Ashtanga-focused classes. For a more personalized experience, you can also arrange for a private yoga instructor to come to your villa, or check with your hotel for any available classes.

Hit the Gym: Prefer weightlifting or high-intensity workouts over surfing or yoga? No worries! Seminyak boasts many exceptional gyms.

If you’re seeking a personal trainer, make a beeline for The Bar, a gym specializing in tailored training programs. If CrossFit is your jam, check out CrossFit Seminyak for their assorted open days, courses, and bootcamps.

Additionally, explore options like Hammerhead, which offers diverse workouts including hip hop, barre, and zumba, or Daily Gym, ideal for boxing and kickboxing enthusiasts. Most large hotels provide onsite gyms and guest workouts – either complimentary or for a fee. So, ** Seminyak has an abundance of gym choices for fitness fanatics!**

Join a Cooking Class: Experience the joy of learning traditional Balinese cooking methods by joining one of the numerous cooking classes in Seminyak. These sessions usually begin with a market tour where you’ll gather fresh ingredients under your chef’s guidance. Afterward, prepare and cook delectable Balinese dishes like satay, gado gado, and spicy salads.

Once your cooking is complete, it’s time to indulge! Your cooking class will be followed by a scrumptious lunch or dinner featuring the dishes you’ve prepared. Receive a booklet of recipes to take home, enabling you to impress your friends during future dinner parties.

Explore these mouth-watering food tours: – but remember to come famished!

  • Seminyak: Cooking Class with a Balinese Family
  • Authentic Cooking Class in a Local Village. 6) For those who enjoy eating but prefer not to exert much effort in the process, opt for a Seminyak Food Tour instead of a cooking class.

Seminyak’s upscale and hip atmosphere sets it apart. Rather than visiting an ordinary local eatery, as you can do so elsewhere in Bali, treat yourself during your visit.

Here’s an ideal food tour that includes a market visit and a cooking class:

  1. If you have limited time in Bali and wish to explore a temple, the closest one to Seminyak is Petitenget Temple.

This temple is popular among locals but largely unknown to tourists. It is tucked away between luxurious Seminyak hotels and restaurants. The entrance features red bricks and sandstone, with intricate Balinese architecture surrounding a collection of pavilions and shrines. Like other Balinese temples, tourists are not permitted inside the inner sanctum, which is reserved for locals and worshippers.

Right next to Petitenget Temple lies Pura Masceti, where locals pray for protection of their crops. Both temples are fascinating to visit during celebrations in accordance with the Balinese calendar, when you can witness traditional dancing and attire.

We recommend visiting with a local guide if possible to ensure a respectful experience. This is an unusual activity in Seminyak, as most visitors stick to the beach.

Bali’s massage paradise extends to Seminyak as well. With numerous upmarket hotels providing treatments, villa stays with visiting therapists, and affordable prices compared to Western standards, indulging in a relaxing massage is a must. Balinese massages incorporate scented herbal oils for a gentle experience, though deep-tissue enthusiasts can request stronger stimulation.

Three recommended spas in Seminyak for a rejuvenating massage experience are AWAY Spa, known for its oxygen treatments and 24/7 availability, Moroccan-themed Prana Spa offering Ayurvedic treatments and stunning Instagrammable spots, and Bodyworks with unique therapy rooms and excellent value.

It is an excellent family-friendly attraction for rainy days.

For a change of scenery, consider taking a day trip from Seminyak to explore the rest of beautiful Bali. Seminyak serves as an excellent starting point in your Balinese adventure, offering a range of transport options that make it an ideal base, particularly if you have limited time in Bali.

From Seminyak, you can conveniently plan day trips to various attractions around Bali. For instance, explore the captivating waterfalls at Nungnung or discover the picturesque rice terraces of Jatiluwih.

Another must-visit destination is Nusa Penida, although we recommend spending more than just a day there!

Here are some unforgettable day trips you can embark on from Seminyak:

  • Uluwatu and Jimbaran Day Tour
  • Rafting and Quad Biking Adventure in Bali
  • Bali Scenic Spots Instagram Tour
  • Snorkeling Excursion to Nusa Lembongan and Penida
  • Small Group Tour: Hidden Canyon, Waterfall & Temples

One of my top recommendations for a day trip from Seminyak is the climb up Mount Batur, one of Bali’s three active volcanoes. If you enjoy hiking and aren’t deterred by early mornings, adding a Mount Batur sunrise hike to your list of things to do in Seminyak is a must!

You will be picked up from your accommodation around 1 am and driven to a location in Central Bali. There, you’ll meet your guide and begin the hike. The journey takes approximately 1 hour and a half, making it an achievable challenge for those who are reasonably fit. Witnessing the sunrise over Mount Agung, Bali’s tallest volcano, is a breathtaking experience that will surely justify the early wake-up call, especially if Mount Agung is erupting!

To learn more about hiking Mount Batur at sunrise and to book your tour, check out these options:

  • Mount Batur Sunrise Trek with Hot Springs
  • 2 Days & 1 Night Sunset and Sunrise Camping at Mount Batur
  • Sunrise Mount Batur Hike with Breakfast
  • Mount Batur Sunrise Hike and Hidden Waterfall. A day trip to Ubud, Bali’s spiritual capital, is a must-do activity when in Seminyak – especially if you’re not planning an extended stay, which we highly suggest. Ubud offers numerous attractions, such as hiking rice terraces, temple visits, yoga retreats, shaman meetings, shopping, and water purification ceremonies.

Ubud is a truly unique destination. Don’t miss it!

Seminyak Nightlife:

18) Discover the Vibrant Culinary Scene

A veritable feast for the senses! Seminyak boasts an impressive array of dining options, ranging from trendy conceptual restaurants to traditional warungs. Here are six must-try eateries:

  • Bottega Italiana – A top Italian restaurant featuring authentic pizzas and pastas in two Seminyak locations. My Milanese friend Mauro is the owner.
  • Wacko Burger Cafe – The undisputed champion of burgers in Seminyak, with vegetarian and vegan options available as well.
  • Naughty Nuri’s Warung – The Seminyak outpost of the renowned Naughty Nuri’s in Ubud, known for its sticky ribs and dirty Martinis.
  • Motel Mexicola – This fun restaurant/bar with a vintage vibe is not to be missed for its delicious Mexican cuisine or the lively party scene.
  • Mama San – Savor exquisite Pan-Asian dishes and cocktails in this elegant setting.
  • Merah Putih – Your go-to spot for upscale Indonesian dining, with stunning architecture and reasonable prices that will have you coming back for more. Enjoying your time at the beach is undeniably the top activity in Seminyak, making it a must-visit destination. During the day, Seminyak and Double Six beaches are bustling with energy. Once the sun sets, the excitement continues.

To kick off your night, many visitors begin with a sunset drink (or several) at a beach bar before heading to a club. The beaches are dotted with colorful beach bars, offering simple meals and an array of chilled beverages, as well as comfortable umbrellas and bean bags.

La Plancha is a long-standing favorite, but its loud music and high prices might make you consider alternatives such as Taris Bali or D’Joglo, which are just a short stroll away and offer equally enjoyable experiences.

20) Or Celebrate at a Beach Club!

If you’re looking for things to do in Seminyak at night, consider visiting a beach club! There’s yet another unforgettable experience to be had in Seminyak after dark – party the night away at a beach club! While you might have seen pictures of Bali beach clubs on Instagram, they are those idyllic spots with beachside infinity pools, daybeds, and beanbags for lounging during the day as you indulge in Bali bowls and fruit cocktails.

As the sun sets, the party starts! There are live shows, music ranging from EDT to smooth lounge tunes, international DJs gracing us with their presence, upscale restaurants, and much more. Begin your night by enjoying sunset beers at a beach bar and then move on to one of Seminyak’s historic clubs like Ku De Ta or Potato Head.

Alternatively, explore the newcomers to the scene such as Tropicola (managed by the same team behind Motel Mexicola!) or Sugarsand, known for its rooftop lounge and Peruvian/Japanese menu.

Seminyak is conveniently located just about a 30-minute drive from Bali airport, making it an excellent place to stay as a first or last stop on your island adventure. To travel between Seminyak and the airport, consider using a Bluebird taxi or hiring a private driver, which typically costs around 150K IDR. For exploring Seminyak and other areas in Bali, here are some transportation options:

1. Scooter Rental

Renting a scooter is the most common method for getting around Seminyak and Bali. The daily rate is approximately 60K IDR, while monthly rental costs around 600/700K IDR. New riders, however, should exercise caution and ensure they have travel insurance coverage before renting a scooter.

2. Ride Sharing Apps (Grab/Go-Jek)

Ride sharing apps like Grab and Go-Jek are popular choices for visitors who prefer not to ride scooters or deal with taxi drivers daily. These services work similarly to Uber: opt for Grab for a car, while Go-Jek offers motorbike rides, which are often cheaper and quicker. However, in Seminyak and other tourist hotspots, taxi drivers may hinder the operation of ride sharing apps, making it difficult to secure a ride. In such cases, taking a taxi will be your only option.

3. Taxis

Taxis are easily accessible in Seminyak; however, be cautious when hopping into a random street taxi as you may get overcharged. To avoid this, opt for Bluebird taxis, which have meters and are reliable. Identify them by their bright blue color and make sure the sign on the door says “BLUEBIRD” to distinguish from counterfeit services.

4. Private Driver

Hiring a private driver might not be the most convenient option for short trips around Seminyak, but it’s an excellent choice for day trips across Bali or travel between the airport and Seminyak. Affordable Convenience: Rates at approximately 600K IDR per day - This equates to less than €10 for each person if there are four of you. A full day, which lasts for ten hours, is included in this price. If additional hours are required, an extra charge of 50K IDR per hour applies.

If you require a dependable private driver during your stay in Seminyak, contact Yung. Her phone number is +62 811 5997 995.
