The Dabbe Waterfall is a popular tourist attraction which is located close to the Hosagadde village in Shimoga district. In the native language this waterfall is also called Kepjoga because it makes a lot of sound while gushing down from the rocks. There are a few popular tales associated with this place. One of them is that at the time of Ramayana, it was here in Sharavathi where Lord Rama broke the bow so that he could win Sita's hand in marriage. Another tale is that at the time of Mahabharata when Bheema had visited this place, he worshipped Lord Shiva because of which he received a boon from him. This waterfall is a part of the Sharavathi valley of the Western Ghats. Thus the view from this waterfall is extremely beautiful. One has to trek in order to reach this waterfall. During the trek one has to pass through a dense forest. This waterfall is also a good place for clicking photographs. One can also sit here and hear the sweet sound of birds chirping. It is also possible to enjoy a good swim in the water of this waterfall.
The Mangalore Airport is close to this place. From the airport one can take a bus or a taxi to reach the waterfall. There are many buses that one can take to reach here. If not by bus one can also travel by a taxi to reach this waterfall. One can also drive down to this waterfall in their own private vehicles. The Manki Railway station is close to this place. From the railway station one can take either a bus or a taxi to reach the waterfall. The months from October to December are considered to be the best time to visit this place.

Varadamoola: It is located in the Western Ghats. The River Varada originates from this place. This is the reason as to why this place is called Varadamoola. A temple dedicated to Goddess Varadadevi is quite popular here. One also finds another temple here which is dedicated to Lord Surya Narayana. There is a popular tale associated with the River Varada. It is believed that this river actually originated in the Bhagirathi water which was poured from the conch of Lord Vishnu on Lord Shiva's head in order to calm him down. The post monsoon period creates a good atmosphere here at this place which is what attracts many people here then.
Sri Sridhara Swami Ashram: It is located in the Varadahalli village. This Ashram is a famous hill shrine. The Ashram was established in 1954 by Shridhara Swami who belonged to Sajjangad which was in Maharashtra. The reason behind building this Ashram was because he wanted to carry on with his spiritual meditation. Later as more and more people came to know about his devotion they started believing in his principles and ideologies. It is his devotees who have constructed his Samadhi inside this Ashram. This Ashram is surrounded by beautiful forests. It has quite a simple structure and most importantly calmness here which is why many visitors come here to experience peace which they do not experience in their daily stressful life.
Ganpati Temple: Located at Idagunji is another famous temple that one can visit. It is believed that Lord Ganpati stayed here at this place which was earlier called Kunjaranya. This place is also considered to be a place of penance according to ancient Rishis. Idagunji's importance is mentioned in the Skandapurana. In this temple one gets to see Lord Vinayaka in a standing posture which happens to be a rare sight. The major festival celebrated here is Vinayaka Chathurthi and many people come here during that time.
Mirjan Fort: The fort is located on the banks of the River Aghanashini. The fort is quite renowned for its architecture. There are many popular tales with regards to the origin of this fort. One of them is that it was built in the 16th century by Queen Chennai Bhairavi Devi who was the Queen of Gersoppa. The fort was under her control for quite a long period. Later this fort came under the control of the Marathas. The British captured this fort in 1784. When the Archaeological Survey of India carried out excavations at this fort they found cannon balls, clay tablets with Islamic inscriptions, Chinese porcelain,etc here. This fort is currently being restored by the Archaeological Survey of India.
Gokarna: The name of this town is derived from two words Go and Karna which mean cow's ear. There are many tales associated with the name of this place. One of them is that in mythology Lord Shiva came from a cow's ear after Lord Brahma sent him to Patal Lok. Another tale is that Gokarna happens to be located at the confluence of two rivers which are Aganashini and Gangavali and the place where these rivers meet appears to look like a cow's ear. This is why the town came to be known as Gokarna. The Sri Mahabaleshwar Temple that has the Atmalinga is a famous pilgrimage site. This town is also well known for its beaches. The five beaches that one finds here are the Om Beach, the Kudle Beach, The Half Moon Beach, The Gokarna Beach and The Paradise Beach. The Mahashivratri and Kartika Purnima festivals are celebrated in this town on a large scale.
