By Sea: Reach Crete by sea is also a great option, several ferries are available on Piraeus Port which is a few miles away from Athens. You can take a ferry as per your budget. Apart from that, ports such as Heraklion, Chania, Ag. Nikolas, Rethymno, Sitia, and Kastelli-Kissamos are also home to the ferries. It will take up to 9 to 10 hours to reach Crete from Piraeus Port. 

By Road: Crete is connected with all the major islands of Greece. One can simply reach Crete by bus or taxi. However, reaching Crete by taxi will cost you much. Hence, Renting a car might be a better option as it is cheaper than a taxi.

 

Which season is the best for a trip to Crete? 

Exploring Crete in April–June, and September–October is a fantastic idea, but if you want to see Crete with fewer people, you must go in August.
