The Bisle Reserve Forest and View Point are famous tourist attractions which are located in Hassan District of Sakleshpur. The Reserve Forest is a popular biodiversity hotspot. One can spot many birds, reptiles and animals here. Some of the animals found here are Malabar Giant Squirrel, Peacock, Elephants,Leopards, Langur,Tiger, Brown Fox, Spotted Deer, etc. The Bisle View Point is located within the Forest Reserve. From this View Point one can have a birds eye view of the Reserve Forest. The landscape from here is also an amazing sight to see. Also one gets to see three mountain ranges from here which are Yenikallu Betta, Kumaraparvatha, Doddabetta and Pushpagiri. One has to trek in order to reach the view point. During the trek one comes across many beautiful streams and waterfalls and it is also possible to spot many animals making this trek an exciting one.
TRANSPORTATION AND BEST TIME TO VISIT THE PLACE
There are many KSRTC buses that one can take to reach the Forest. Private jeeps are also another option for travel. The Mangalore Airport is the closest to this place. From the airport one can take either a bus or a taxi to reach the place. The Sakleshpur Railway station is the closest to this place. From the station one can take either a bus or a taxi to reach the place. One can visit this place from the months of August to February as it is the best time to go there.

PLACES TO VISIT
One can visit the Sri Kukke Subramanya Temple. This is located in Subramanya Town. The temple is dedicated to Lord Subramanya who was the son of Lord Shiva. According to Hindu Mythology Lord Subramanya is considered to be the commander of the army of the Gods. He is also worshipped as Lord of the Snakes. In between the sanctum and entrance of the temple one finds a silver plated garuda kamba and it is believed that this protects people from the poisonous breath of Vasuki. There is also a sculpture of Subramanya with Vasuki on a pedestal here. A little below this one also finds the idol of Sesha. There are many pujas offered to Lord Subramanya such as Ashlesha Bali, Naga Pratishtha Puja, Sarpa Dosha,etc.
The Harangi Dam is another place that one can visit. This is located in Hudgur Village which is near Kushalnagar. The dam is built across the River Cauvery. The purpose behind building this dam was to meet the demand for irrigation since agriculture was the main occupation here. The greenery and natural beauty around this place is an amazing sight. The architectural pattern of the reservoir is also quite noteworthy. One can enjoy a good picnic here.
The Dubare Elephant Camp is another fun place to visit. Here the elephants were trained for the famous Mysore Dasara. There are a number of activities here which help the visitor in understanding elephants better. There are trained naturalists here who give the visitor information about elephant history, ecology and biology. One also gets an opportunity to interact with elephants here. People also get to see elephants playing in the water,how they are given a bath,how their food is made and even how they are fed. thus truly making it a fun place to visit.
Kumara Parvatha is another destination famous for trekking. This is also the 6th highest peak in Karnataka. It is situated at an elevation of approximately 4000 feet above sea level. Kumara Parvatha is actually a group of three Peaks which are Shesha Parvatha, Siddha Parvatha and Kumara Parvatha. All these three peaks are considered to be important according to Hindu Mythology. The trek route passes through the Shola Forest where one gets to see a variety of beautiful flora and fauna. Once the trek to the top is complete the trekker gets to see a beautiful view of the Western Ghats.
The Mallalli Waterfalls are located at the foothills of Pushpagiri Mountains. It is a popular scenic tourist destination. This waterfall is formed by the Kumaradhara River and the height of the waterfall is approximately 200 feet. This waterfall is surrounded by green forests,valleys and mountain ranges where trekking is very popular.
The Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary is a popular tourist attraction. It is also one of the most important bird sanctuaries of the world. This was declared as a sanctuary in 1987 and it is also proposed as a World Heritage Site. This sanctuary is covered with beautiful waterfalls.Many swamps are also found inside the sanctuary. One can find here semi evergreen and also evergreen trees. Here one also gets to see a variety of animals such as Indian Hare,Spotted Deer, Stripe necked mongoose, Gaur, Brown Palm Civet, Mouse Deer, etc. One also finds here a variety of birds and also species of birds that are on the verge of extinction such as black and orange flycatcher, Nilgiri Flycatcher, Malabar Grey Hornbill, Small Sunbird,Blue winged parakeet, etc. In addition to this one also finds reptiles here such as King Cobra, Indian Rock Python, Rat snake, etc.
The Shettihalli Church is another interesting place to visit. Today however this Church is known as Rosary Church. This Church is a good example of Gothic architecture. The purpose behind building this Church was to serve all the Christian communities who were residing in the areas closeby. During the monsoon season when the water level of the River Hemavathi rises only a part of the Church will be seen,the rest of it will be in water. Thus because of this reason this Church is also known as The Floating Church or the Submerged Church which is what makes this place interesting to visit.
