Best time to visit Tanzania

GET QUOTES

The best time to visit Tanzania depends on the wildlife you want. The seasons and the amount of wildlife in the country are high when it rains, so depending on your visit, you will have a slightly different experience. Tanzania’s main attraction is the Great Migration and it is known as Tanzania’s “green season” between November and March is the best time. Rain season is a fantastic time for bird watching as thousands of migratory birds arrive. The only time not good is Tanzania is, between April and May, when heavy rains can disrupt wildlife viewing.

1. Serengeti National Park

The Serengeti National Park includes amazing recreation in excessive densities year-round, despite the fact that height time is throughout the dry season from June to September. Africa is usually a very hot place, the climate in the Serengeti is actually very pleasant and temperate. It is rarely hot and temperatures drop at night and early in the morning. The lowest and highest temperatures vary with the seasons, with the rainy season being the warmest. The Serengeti area rarely exceeds 37 ° C on a hot afternoon in the rainy season and barely drops below 13 ° C on a cold morning in the dry season. Late January and February and March is the best season for the wildebeest in the southern Serengeti.

The best time to visit the Serengeti National Park is the dry season (late June to October). This time around it offers the best overall viewing, with the wildebeest migration being the highlight. Game viewing is good year-round, but certain areas are better at certain times. The time of migration varies each year (the best chance to see it is in June and July), while the birth of the wildebeest takes place from the end of January to February. The starting of the rainy season is in March and April, making the normally crowded Serengeti empty and providing an intimate wildlife experience. Another advantage at this time of year is the return of migratory bird species, and it’s a great attraction.

2. Ngorongoro National Park

Ngorongoro's dry season is from June to October generally considered the best time to visit, as temperatures are cooler and this place is best for visiting all year around. During the main dry season from July to September and again during the calving season from December to February, which follows the November rains, large numbers of visitors are expected. With this in mind, the main rainy season from April to May is often considered the best time to visit the Ngorongoro Crater The green season is from November to May. This place is much less crowded, is still a great time to observe wildlife.

Most of the time, the rainy season is just an afternoon shower with a little more rain in March, April and May; just choose a lodge-like The Highlands or Ngorongoro Crater Lodge, which is completely closed. Wildlife is more widespread due to the abundance of water and vegetation, which makes it a bit more difficult to find, but this should not be an impediment. Even during the rainy season, there are few places on earth that can match the Ngorongoro game viewing.

3. Zanzibar Island,Tanzania

Zanzibar Island Adventure offers the best experiences from June to October. This time the weather is cool and dry. During this time, August and September have the best water clarity of 25 feet or more and offer the best opportunities for snorkeling, boating, and seeing sights. It is important to note that some of the island's restaurants are closed during the Muslim holidays in June and July. So before you book, check if it is important. December to February is also a great time to visit Zanzibar and the nearby islands, and it is hot and dry with temperatures up to 40 degrees Celsius.

4. Mount Kilimanjaro,Tanzania

Conditions on Kilimanjaro can be different throughout the year, but the best weather for climbing is probably July through October when the skies are warm and clear. This is in stark contrast to other seasons, especially from April to May and November to mid-December, when rain, mud, ice, and fog can affect the overall experience and, in extreme cases, increase the risk to children. climbers. However, remember that mountain weather conditions vary greatly from year to year and we always seek the advice of our on-site operators

5. Tarangire National Park

Animal watching in Tarangire National Park is best during the dry season from June to November. This popular time of year has fewer crowds, but a great way to escape the crowds is to stay in the southern part of the reserve for a more intimate experience. The wet season does not produce the same level of animal interactions and the rains replenish the water sources, thickening the vegetation and causing the different species to disperse. For some, there is also the issue of getting wet during the months of March and April.

6. Selous Game Reserve

The dry and colder months from June to November in the Selous Game Reserve are excellent for spotting big cats and wild dogs. At this time of year there is less water at the watering holes and animals congregate around the remaining springs, resulting in incredible sightings. Wild dogs typically live from June to August, making them the best months to spot rare and endangered species. The seasonality of animal watching in this area is quite clear, with animals spreading during the rainy season from March to May with the heaviest rains occurring in March and April.

7. Ruaha National Park

The best time to visit Ruaha National Park is in the dry months of June to October when the vegetation is thinner and the climate is a bit cooler. The wild dogs in the area offer greater opportunities to observe these charismatic animals from June to August,  and the sightings of lions and big cats at this time of year are phenomenal.  This is also a good time of year for a walking safari, as the grass is shorter and the temperatures are cooler.
