Baindur/Byndoor 

Byndoor is a village located in northern Kundapur Taluk near Shiroor in Udupi district at a distance of 33 Km from Kundapur.

The beaches are the main attractions in the towns located on Coastal Karnataka. Even in Byndoor, the Beach is the main place of interest. The beach here is famous for the beautiful sunset. The serenity and silence of this place attract many tourists.

If you still need a glorious sunset with peace and calm, then you should visit 'Kshitija Nesara Dhama' in Ottinene near Byndoor.

Other attractions of Byndoor are the Shaneshwara Temple, Sri Ramachandra Mandira and Mahakali Temple. The Shaneshwara Temple is a very old temple and the history of this temple dates back to a few centuries. The temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is present right on the seashore, giving it a truly unique setting. The stunning sculptures as well as the lingam at the temple are worth seeing.

 One of the popular pilgrim centers of Karnataka, Kollur Mookambika Temple is just 28 Km from Byndoor.

The beach village of Byndoor has several legends associated with it. The place reportedly got its name from Saint Bindu who undertook a long and hard penance at Ottinene, a little hill close to the village. A climb to the top of Ottinene can provide a wonderful view of the sea, beach and the sunset.

Bhatkal Beach

Bhatkal beach is one of the most beautiful beaches, located near the famous Murudeshwar temple in the Uttara Kannada region. As there are many historic and important temples near the Bhatkal beach, it attracts tourists from across the country, and they mainly come to visit the beach and its nearby temples on pilgrimage. The famous Jog falls is also close by, attracting visitors in droves.

 

Why Should One Visit Bhatkal Beach?

The religiously significant temples around Bhatkal give it a prominence that is uniquely its own. The Sholeshwar Temple is believed to have been built by the Chola kings in the 10th century to commemorate their victory in these areas. There are also two Jain temples dating back to the 16th century and there is also a church which has been built during the Portuguese rule of these areas. An old lighthouse dating back centuries also attracts many tourists.

The beach in Bhatkal is picturesque with sloping coconut trees, serene waters and crystal white sands. It is a trekker’s paradise as the rugged coastline offers plenty of trekking options to those who would like a stroll on the beach and those who would like a challenge, as the hills and hillocks along the rocky shores offer plenty of obstacles to even experienced trekkers and hikers.

It is an ideal spot for a beach vacation as there are many hotels and resorts dotting the hillside and the beachfront, offering accommodation to suit any budget. The rocky slopes of the Western Ghats that slope down steeply towards the Arabian Sea present nature at its rugged, raw and beautiful best.

 

How to Reach Murudeshwar

Murudeshwar is ably connected to the rest of the Indian territory by both railways and roadways. Regular rail and bus services ply to and fro Murudeshwar. There is, however, no direct flight connectivity to Murudeshwar. The nearest airport is in Mangalore, approximately 137 km away from Murudeshwar.

Nearest Airport: Mangalore International Airport (IXE) - 134 kms from Murudeshwar.

By road: Regular bus services ply to and fro the city of Murudeshwar. They operate on a regular basis, through well-connected states, as well as, national highways from places like Bengaluru, Mysuru, Udupi etc. You can also take shared taxis or cabs for the same route.

By train: Murudeshwar is well connected to the rest of India via railways as well. Regular rail services operate on a daily basis to and fro Murudeshwar. Murudeshwar Junction is the principal railway station that serves the city of Murudeshwar.
